Iceman: First off that's a really cool area you've got there. Secondly: You can't be from Texas or any southern state. Those kits would be deformed or melted into a pile in no time. lol

I can't tell you much I hate the heat. I'm a,ways afraid to open a box and see just a glob of plastic. So far so good. *knock on wood*

I know what you mean Joel - I myself bring in everything from the garage each summer - these 98 degree, high humidity days just scare me too much to even chance it. I have them stored in big boxes as well, but just do not trust them to be out in the heat - WAY too much money invested - I know you know what I mean!!

I hear you on that. I had a really nice Eduard Fw190 Royal Class kit that I had stored out in the garage for a couple of years and when I went to build it I had all kinds of fit issues due to the immense heat that it had been stored in. Here's a shot of the wings: (the fuselage was the same way and had a twist in it!!!)
Since that build I've brought all my stash kits INSIDE the house. Didn't make my wife too happy but it had to be done.

I haven't really shot any pics of my area in a few years and certainly haven't posted the latest refinements. Anyways here's my quaint lil' studio (although this may change in the next month or so as my niece may be coming to stay with us for a bit-funny how the "workshop" is always the first sacrificial lamb in the name of space -Don't get me wrong, priorities are priorities and all-I'm just sayin')
Being a big Dave Ramsey fan I was challenged to not spend $80 on a paint booth and find a way obtain one cheaper................and so I did. I didn't know about the whole plastic case side of a paint booth attracting dust through static electricity and all at the time I built it but this contraption WORKS. I bought a clear plastic container with the two interlocking hinged lid sections, cut a square out of the bottom of it the dimensions of a bathroom vent fan and bought fan and installed it, fastened a duct to it and can route it to a sliding glass that I have , stick a piece of 4"x 4" inch foam that's the height of the glass in place and shut the window on the foam and duct. I can completely close it off when not in use as well. It works perfectly and all for around $32. I may upgrade to an actual paint booth in the future but right now I'm doing this affordably.
Here's a shot of my paint drying booth (that used to be a display area) that's sealed off from the elements and has lamps in it for drying purposes.

That is a pretty cool drying set up mate, especially in the colder months. As for paint booth, nice work, as long as you can get all the floaty stuff out, it is good, i lined mine with plaster board, works well too, bugger spending money on stuff you can build yourself..

Thanks Dale. Yeah I need to strip it all down and wash the plastic tub out. It's not affecting paint finishes yet but I see it doing so in the future. lol

I use a cardboard base that I can just flip over or change out if I need and I am facing a strip down/ cleaning of the sides and all.

That is some serious money saving ingenuity - no doubt!! Looks awesome man, that is one terrific set up Extreme Professionalism - Yes Sir!!
I will have to get after something like this as well, especially the paint drying area. That's a great idea. I have one of those expensive paint booths, might have sprayed in it twice so far. But I really want to get after learning the "Ways of the Airbrush"
But it is hard to when the wife brings keeps bringing me stuff like below, just about every month!! Just cannot beat the costs......
She gets this stuff FREE from the households hazardous waste office. It is next to her office, and the guys there will keep model / auto paints for me, setting them aside and then calling her when they have gathered up a box full. And most of the time they are unopened cans!!! So, needless to say, with what would seem to be an endless free supply of Testors / Tamiya / Model masters, etc paints, I just have so many to use I really have had no need to do airbrush.
BUT I WILL LEARN THE WAYS OF AIRBRUSH - OH YES - I WILL. I know if I don't, DC will catch a flight and kick my ass! smileyCAELY0UD_zps3cc8a166

That's a lot of nice space GB!! My favorite memory of a building space I loved was in my parents basement so many, many, many years ago. I have a much smaller spot now than I did a few years back, but at least I have a hobby room, I am glad, and blessed for that.

Seeing as no one has posted anything on this thread for so long, I figured maybe it was my turn to post my "build zone" on this forum! I use the dual building area principle. In that I mean that I have 2 spots in my hobby room to tackle the styrene. First my bench that I built just to fit my standing or sitting builds- Then I also have a table because sometimes I want to sit down lower (old guy back) And it helps me to have a couple builds going at once without having to put stuff away in between steps! And of course we all need tools to do all the "Magic" as it were! Just a bit insight to room of madness, David S.
