This is what I plan on building. I'm not going to rush to finish it by the end of the month although I hope to. The plan is a crew cab, possibly a dually but not certain yet. I have a set of rims from an old big rig I plan on using if I can find tyres to fit although the wheels will need narrowing.

That's definitely a good plan. Will keep an eye on this as I would love to try something similar for a future build.

I think the second will require less work when it comes to restricting lines. Plus I like that the doors sit straight. But the blue one is a more radical custom because of it.m vote green one for me. Great choices though. Looking forward to this.

I think I've worked out how I'm going to do this. My plan is to do a temp build on the whole 60 (cab, interior tub bed and frame) and cab and frame of the 65 before cutting both in two pieces. Then I'll get the cab mocked up and glued which should hopefully make joining the two frames together a little easier as I will have a decent idea where they will need cut, and with a bit of luck it should have the mounts for the body in the right place too. The two frames are slightly different widths but that should work in my favour as I'll be able to cut both a little longer and join them side to side instead of end to end. Got a build to finish over the weekend than it's cutting time

I LOVE THE WAY YOU THINK MATE !!!!!!!! Not scared to cut up a good model, that's my sort of modeling too. two-thumbs-up-smiley-emoticon
I personally like the top pic, it looks more refined, but just how much extra work is in it, could determine the direction you need to go i think, but i will be excited to see what you end up doing mate.

I don't think there would actually be much difference between them work wise. The 60 is going to be the back of the cab and the doors on it are angled already for the older style window and look to line up pretty close with the doors on the 65.

Although the first one is cool,I prefer the stock(?) configuration better. Here's one that belongs to a guy I know.

Got a good start on the cab tonight. I think I have it all worked out (at least I hope so, it's chopped up now, lol) I'm going with something in between both styles. This was the first cuts. And this is how it lined up after first cuts. A close up of the cab moulding that I will be trimming to fit the door edge. This is the door after trimming out the excess. The moulding on the back edge will be trimmed to fit the door edge, then I will cut the lower half of both bodies to fit. And the wheels I will be using from a italeri semi trailer. I'm going to fit the hub caps from a 50's chevy fast back and some chrome trim rings for the big steel look. The wheel on the left has had the extra edge removed and the right one is stock.

I think to get it that low, you'd pretty much have to Z the frame.

Very true. You'll need to get rid of the bed floor too, I think. Deecee slams almost everything so he. Isn't have some good advice here.

LOL, that cab looks coo, i reckon you could call it " 2 dogs" running-around-smiley-emoticon
You could Z the chassis if you want, but with a pick-up, i like to remove the bed floor, like i am doing on my Sidewinder build, and just raise it up a bit. Then slice out the floor of the interior, which wont be a problem considering you have to join the interior tubs anyway, and raise the floor up an equal amount. You will also need to slot out the fire wall too, this way you can keep the chassis etc stock, with just the basic lowering job.
Either way, there is a bit of work, but i find the way i do it, all the under bits still fit perfectly.
I love this idea mate, i hope you get it done in time.

More progress. The body is ready for filling, but I might still add the fenders from the step side. I've raised the bed floor as much as was possible. The chassis is cut ready for glueing then I can cut the interior tubs to fit. I would have taken more pics but the camera went flat.

Fenders look awesome on it! I too would leave them on. Then add a set of duallie wheels from a Monogram Ford 350 kit.

Got the frame together tonight. Letting it sit overnight now so cant really do too much more until it's set . Unfortunately I managed to cut it a little short so had to cut some pieces to fit. Even though it was a mistake it might still work out ok as I have to level the 2 heights of rail and it's easier to make a sloped join than modify the entire rail.
