That is cool! lots of great stuff! I love the variety. I bet you got that huge Ferrari F40 back when it was new. It has probably risen in value like the real thing. Thanks!

Wow! Is it complete? what scale is it? How is the detail? I would kind of like one. The F40 is such an iconic car.

Figured I should get in on the embarrassment of showing the little corner of heaven I call the hobby room. BUT - these will serve as some awesome before and after pictures, these of course are the present, but soon to be the before pictures!! I will be making a nice revision very soon, adding a lot of working table space - using butcher block no less!
And yep DC - before you say it, YES - That's GREEn! LOL The room is a yellow top half, black stripe around the middle, and a dam near Mopar green for the bottom half, with black trim molding!! LOL Man I must have drank a lot when I was younger, Ha! I do plan to get this room back to white once again soon as well, probably this winter when we are stuck inside anyways.

Well I'm finally completely set up. Here are a few pics of the setup at my new home. Once I get rid of all the boxes on the right hand side, I will finish the floor. That wall will display my built models.

Ok 'nuff this crap of "John" AKA ME, not showing what I've been speaking of, you guys know and have read on me saying "I have to limit myself" and we all made postings to the thread with on "order" in a hobby room, area, or whatever you call it. With me, its a shop, I own 2 complete shops! One for the household, which is in the basement, and thats where household things are done or well right now, its a mess (I'm installing shelving, HEAVY old store metal shelving that holds 2 tons of weight per 4 foot section!) Whole other story.... BUT as I said, I used to own a hobby repair shop, I was known as "Yellowstone Train Repairs" I did EVERYTHING, from N scale "1/160th" to G scale which is 1/22 to 1/28th (No real standard... but close to our famously scaled "1/24th-1/25th scales) ANYWAY, have a look: This is the stair case to my ENTIRE 3rd floor shop....I did ALL of the pictures/seen trains in the picture prior to November 4th 2013. That was the day I closed for business, and took a step back to nopw be able to enjoy things as in April of 2013, I under went full blown open heart surgery....AND thank God, it was found BEFORE I had a heart attack, so....I'm taking it easy, for now even tho, I just turned 36, on Sept 1st, I got a long life ahead of me, and a wife and daughter to see through this life as well.... Just repairs manuals! --^ One work bench ---^ Molding area, with digi-scale for weight of pouring liquids ---^ Mechanical repairs bench ---^ My 1954 Milling machine, an Enco "Unimat". DEAD accurate! ---^ Same machine as above, transformed to a Metal Lathe, NICE hobby shop tool tho! Overall look of the entrance ---^ Wall of junk... LOL ---^ hubgarage.s3.amazonaws.com/photos/6406807/YTR_Shop_009_detail.jpgCentralized Chimney ---^ Around the corner of the chimney, looking at my shop fridge, that has nothing more then two 12 packs of cold soda in it, and the rest is chemicals, vented out the window next to it....Keeps paint and thinners in GREAT condition, the "freezer", holds my decal supply, interior is dry in the freezer, the lower "fridge" part gets ice once in awhile, BUT it will also run of propane (I removed this from an wrecked camper!!) Detail cabinet ---^ You can see a second "Vent" I use when painting a fan fits in the chimney opening! My current "Model Car" bench, which hinges to the side of a caped corners on the chimney....This was recently added, The side to the far right hand side not seen here is my wifes craft area, as the whole shop is getting a "revamping" and new benches are being planned and built, and a lot of the clutter will be dealt with then as storage has been changed too, (I got a WHOLE "extra" space) I never knew existed, and knocked a doorway through the wall and am using a "eve" as its 9 feet by 18 feet, that was unused space! This "storage area" is/was my recovery from my mentioned heart surgery, I used it as a task, to continue till the work was done till mid winter, last year! Today, I can haul a full sheet of 4 feet by 8 feet plywood, 1/2" thick.... WHEN I did the storage room, I was able to just carry/haul a 4 foot by 4 foot piece, half of what I can now, BUT I can't carry any of it long, so.....I had to learn how to to push my limitations, and boy, thats saying something! ENJOY! Now, ya know "John"....

forgot to mention, the whole 3rd floor, was a glorified storage area like a basement so....it wasn't "finished" to todays standards, SO I took advantage of that and went with it...So it looks like crap, afterall its a apartment and my Landlord loves that I don't ruin but make better, as when I'm able I got to get pics of my new "storage" area or what I call the stock room.....

Light bulb just went off. That cupcake baking sheet is perfect for molding small parts! Why didn't I think of that? Why hadn't i sen that or read about it on the internet? Brilliant! Do you use mold release before dumping he silicone in it?
Be right back...........

Ice, Nope no mold release for me (I don't need it....) The silicone I use "RTV" type stuff, will NOT stick to anything BUT itself, even after its cure.....Once thing to remember when molding, the RTV, to use for molding HAS TO HAVE NO "adhesive" properties.....if it does, it can stick, no matter what! You need the type stuff for "seal" making only to make this as I do, and the molds I make are 40,000 copies BEFORE they break down so....And can withstand temps of up to 500 degrees for short periods of time.
The cup cake sheet, MUST be Aluminum, NO steel ones, it reacts differently from one metal to the other....
BUT, I suggest that if you get an aluminum one, "polish" the inside with a BRAND NEW scotchbrite....And DO NOT spare this....I've been mold making for 20 plus years, I started out making sand and Murphys oil soap type molds for metal casting, so.....I used to do spin casting too!
And the Digi-scale, in Resin is YOUR BEST FRIEND!

I use Allumilite silicone and resin. Hasn't failed me yet. I'm going to give that a shot for sure. It beats having to make my own at least for the smaller parts. Thanks for the advice.
Great looking third floor, by the way. Enough tools in there for all of us to come over and play.

Ice thats cool I used Alumilite for a while but I've found a larger amount supplier thats almost the same thing just get it for the same price for about 5 pounds worth instead of one....Now as a established mold maker, with them, I get that same 5 pounds for $17....Not to shabby!
The Alumilite which one do you use? HS-1, 2 or 3?
I got tricks for it up me sleeves so.....Can share and teach if you got questions.....
Mold Release, only between 2 part molds were the RTV touches itself in its cure state.....Small parts really, the larger molded parts frames or bodies, MAY need a release agent....but thats even questionable.....

BTW, You think the tools are something, I could NEVER post the amount of paint I have, I'm pushing 700 colors, in almost 1,000 bottles! ALL different sizes and shapes sprays, and even GALLONS so......(by right, I'm a industrial spray painter.....and certified!) So........ Needless to say I've got EVERY possible thinner you can think of!

Finally finished setting up my bench. Most of my detailing parts now at an arms length. The one of sets and items I don't use as often are still in a drawer.

Lol. Hanks guys. I just started building again after the move remember. However, I do try to keep it a bit organized or I start losing parts or get frustrated rummaging through things I'm not currently using. A bit of a beat freak I guess.
