Thank you for the clarification on the clear and for the explanation on the two toning a paint job. I've done it a time or two but used a method that I commonly use in aircraft modeling. Your method sounds alot better for auto builds. The detail that you continue to add to this build is nothing short of amazing Pete.

Thanks Joe! Glad I could help. Its a technique that transfers over from real cars. I have used it as long as Chip Foose or any of the other high end builders out there. Its a race car...That means more money every time you open the box! This is why I generally don't do nascar subjects...They eat $$ and materials. but it is fun to just go flat out on one from time to time!

Thanks Marcos!! Glad you got something out of it! As for the bar...Its also called a track bar. Its purpose is to keep the rear axle centered under the car during hard cornering. If you stop to think about the forces applied to that rear suspension (Even on a street car) Its a wonder domestic auto manufacturers didn't start putting em on production parallel leaf spring suspension cars from the beginning!!!

Glad I could help Marcos. Yeah, not all production cars got em. But race cars that have to turn a corner??? Yeah, research is key Marcos. Especially if its a subject your not well versed in.

OK! Time for the long awaited engine portion of this build (No, I didn't forget about the finished chassis) Have to hash out a few engine issues first. Yes, issues... This kit comes with parts (Heads/rocker covers) to build the LA series small block Mopar engine. The 355 Cube (destroked 360) OR...Yeah, a Hemi. its probably my biggest gripe with this kit. Salvinos tried to appeal to all with this kit, by offering the small block option. Problem is you only get one engine block/trans to build either from. This alone makes the Hemi rather inaccurate. But, yeah, there is more. The rocker covers for the Hemi are sooo wrong shape wise, it isn't even funny!! That and the Bath tub intake (which is a really nice, well done piece) Is to big for the block. It would be great for a 1/24 scale Hemi!! But, I have to make it work, its too nice. So...I am tossing the kits Hemi and going with an old MPC parts box Hemi. I will be using a set of JoHan factory stock Hemi rocker covers since they are some of the most accurate around. Going to have to mod the factory oil pan to work in this generic chassis though. Have to figure out how to mount the engine in the chassis. Then!! mod the trans mount (which does not even fit the kit engine/trans combo) so it works with the parts box Hemi . Then there's all the details to hash out. AND...AND...I have less than 3 weeks to complete it If I want to show it at Fulton this yr

Now for our comic relief interlude... 1st pic: Comparison between the two Hemis. The MPC one clearly has better, more accurate detail. It is also proportioned better. 2nd pic: These are just bad representations of a Hemi rocker cover, its disappointing. 3rd pic: Comparison between the good (on right) and the bad rocker covers. 4th pic: The ugly, yeah, that's the kit engine on top. Proportions are soo off... There is just so much to whine about here. Think I'll leave it here and move on LOL... oH one more pic... This is the engine I'm gonna use...

This is worse than misrepresentation on an aircraft model. I mean.....the examples of Hemis are so much more in number and more readily available than aircraft.....yet we have this. Who gets by with this kind of stuff in this day and age? I mean....I know not EVERYTHING can be made accurate but damn....a rocker cover?

I might not have it ready in time Marcos. A lot to do on it yet and.. I refuse to rush any part of a build. Gotta finish up a few items/props that go with the Ford Drag Team ensamble. That's gonna be the jaw dropper this year at the show/s

well you got that right, is better to take your time and do it right instead of doing something that you are not happy with, i learn that the hard way with my Dale Earnhardt car, and i pay the price of that, but hope to do better on ever project, just keep doing those awesome models man

Man this thing just gets sweeter and sweeter as time goes along. I do hope you get to take it with you to Fulton Pete. I've been in a similar situation before with finishing a build before a show and I ended up stopping intentionally. I was making mistakes and stopped while I was ahead. Hopefully this'll pan out for you seamlessly so you can show it. If not....there's next time......
