LOL...Thanks fellas! Got some more done today. Pretty much ironed out the body on this thing. Re engraved the door/deck lid lines and rear window trim. Took care of some sink marks on the hood (They were baad) Inner hood structure ghosts all over the exterior of it. A bit of filler and some sanding/blocking and its ready too. Body had a few inaccuracies to it as well. First, the top forward door lines were not only incorrect (they just sorta followed the mold separation line on the A pillar and were very shallow...Very... So, I made a few templates from tape and re engraved the door lines as they should be. Also removed the windshield trim. Many of these race cars had flush mounted lexan windshields and eliminated the chrome trim. Reason being, it would get ripped off at speed creating a track hazard and it was un-aerodynamic. Petty cars did away with it and many other teams followed suit. Leading edge of the front fender tops were poorly formed as well. Don't know if this was a mold issue or just an inaccuracy but some plastic rod and a bit of filler and its fixed also. Took care of the really out of place waves and low spots on the body. May go back and do more (probably) But, these cars were wavy and wrinkled looking on their first day on the track anyways considering they were stock bodies that were massaged and manipulated to work as race cars with lowered ride heights and over sized tires not to mention doors that were literally bolted/welded shut.

Next time: More body manipulation and correction. It will probably be more of a review/critique of the kit than anything else. Is it an accurate kit? Very much so as far as unique parts and such are concerned. Is it easy? Well done?...MMM...Stay tuned gang!!!

Now THAT'S alot of work in prep Pete!! This is going to be one impressive build to watch. These kits are touted to be really good but from what I'm seeing there's alot of blems in them OOB.

Think I'm gonna save the review for the end...I keep finding more... But, I have made some progress. The body is smooth and empty (like most model car bodies) on the inside. Problem is...Its a stock car. That inner body is clearly visible to all who care to look. On that note I have made a slight improvement. The inside of the roof got some attention with a few strips of plastic to simulate a pair of roof stiffeners and the rear halo between the C pillars, as well as the side roof rails. I Will probably add more after some research. Not much out there on the old interwebs regarding these cars or good pics of the interiors/structures. But, I just cant leave well enough alone! Time will tell. I did manage to get the MPC style "universal chassis" squared up and glued together. lets talk about ejector pin marks... Really...These would have been sooo much easier to deal with had they been on the inside surfaces since those are flat!! The thing I dislike most about the "universal chassis" These unrealistic gaps and holes. If you plan to build a killer model out of these kits. Be prepared to fab and fix your way to an acceptable level of realism where the chassis is concerned. I used some plastic strip stock as well as some square stock to fill gaps and holes. Heres the result... Still have to sand it all down and make it look uniform. Hopeing to not have to fill/sand any of it if I did it right.

Next up should be some roll cage stuff and perhaps more inner structure. Gotta get the cage all sorted first. Stay tuned and thanks for looking/commenting!!!

Got a bit done today... Roll cage is assembled, have to smooth out a few joints but, it really did go together well. I did fab a new X brace though. Kit part was not round, nor would any amount of sanding make it round. Also got a start on some inner body structure.

Next time: Got some goodies in the mail today and did a test patch with the finish color to see how close it matches the decals...Stay tuned!!!

Got a bit more done. Got some goodies too. P.E Set from Model car Garage for Salvinos 73 to 76 Nascar Charger kits. I cut the molded in front screen from the lower valance panel and fitted the P.E screen. (This plastic is soft and cuts/sands easily) Always leave a margin when you do P.E. parts like this. Gotta have something to attach it to!! I scored a line across the bottom of the screen and cut the ends with a razor saw. A little bending action and off the kit part went. The P.E part fits really well just laying in place. I did get some color on the roll cage and a bit mor fab work done on the inner structure stuff. Just don't have a lot of time to post it up right now... Perhaps later gang!!
