Good Guess Stitch but not the one.. The 69 ZL-1 was a 427 cu in 435hp. Not enough hp to cu in ... that's if you spec it up with air con and all the electric extras, without their power drain it was 500 plus bhp

It just so happens I've owned a '68-9 since '96. It has a Boss 302 and I replaced the 4-speed toploader with a 5-speed 3550 from a '93 Cobra. It has less than 42,000 original miles on it and has gone up in value 650% since I bought it. Cool job and cool cars. You are a blessed man son.

OK , The 69 ZL-1 Corvette FACTORY RATED at 430 HP and only TWO were sold to the public. It may have been Grossly underrated HP wise , but with ONLY TWO being sold to the public , I would not consider it to be Commercially available to the public to purchase.. With that in mind , I would have to give this TRIVIA answer to Wisdom once again , as the 65 Corvette Fuel Injection 327cu in / 375hp was readily available for the public to purchase. Making it the Highest HP to Cu IN to come out of the Factory , without Performance Modification's done by ANYONE.. Sold from the factory BONE STOCK producing 375 HP..

From 1894 to the present:
If the fastest vehicle produced each year since 1894 to the present, was put on an infinitely straight track the first day of the year it was produced, and raced at its top speed indefinitely.......
Which car would currently be in the lead?’

Factory Produced. Or Produced from a factory car by an aftermarket source.

LOL - nope, not a trick - just a big ole math equation!
Any car, any manufacturer, any country, basically any and ALL cars EVER built from 1894 to the present - I guess lets go with factory produced.
Pretty vast, I know, but when I ran across this "Obscure" automobile fact, I thought to myself, now here is something hilarious, and hard! I am still trying to "reverse-engineer" the mathematics on the answer as it is!! LOL

While you all ponder the last question here is another thought provoking question.
There is a Top Fuel Dragster waiting at the starting line of the 1/4 mile and a Lingenfelder Corvette running at 220mph towards the starting line . The vette keeps its speed all the way through the 1/4 with the Dragster starting as soon as the vette trips the Go lite , as it passes.
Who Crosses the finish line first ??

Because the Lingenfelder Corvette is running "towards" the starting line, and the Vette keeps it speed "ON" the 1/4 mile, and "THEN" trips the go lite.......... The Vette must be traveling down the 1/4 mile from the finish line to the starting line.

1894 to present...
I would have to guess that cars being built in 2015 are faster than those of older production dates.Therefor the fastest car built in 2015 and running since Jan 1 2015 would be in the lead.. At least that is my guess...

OOOps. The Vette passes the starting line doing 220 mph toward the finish line . As the Vette passes the start line the lights are tripped for the Dragster to start its run. With both running in the same direction..The Vette does not lose any speed during the 1/4 mile run.

BUT - in all honestly, it is the Top Fuel Dragster.
An NHRA Top Fuel Dragster accelerates quicker than any other land vehicle on earth . . quicker than a jet fighter plane . . . quicker than the space shuttle....or snapping your fingers !!
Top Fuel Dragsters can reach nearly 340 MPH in about 4 seconds!
Soooo... (I think I found your article, or at least, one close to it)
Lingenfelter twin-turbo powered Corvette Z-06. Over a mile up the road, a Top Fuel dragster is staged & ready to 'launch' down a quarter-mile as you pass and trip the green light. You have the advantage of a flying start. You run the 'Vette hard, on up through the gears and blast across the starting line & pass the dragster at an honest 200 MPH.... The 'tree' goes green for both of you at that exact moment. The dragster departs & starts after you. You keep your foot buried hard to the floor, and suddenly you hear an incredibly brutally screaming whine that sears' and pummels your eardrums & within a mere 3 seconds the dragster effortlessly catches & passes you. He beats you to the finish line, a quarter-mile away from where you just passed him. Think about it from a standing start, the dragster had spotted you 200 MPH.....and it not only caught, but nearly blasted you off the planet when he passed you within a mere 1320 foot long race !!!!

That was easy. Top fuel all the way. The freaky thing is that it will turn a total of 500rpm and yet burn 7 gallons of fuel during a 1/4 mile run.
Which other mass produced car used the Corvair transaxle?

Which other mass produced car used the Corvair transaxle? Pontiac used a modified version of the Corvair Powerglide. It was called 'TempesTorque' for its front-engine, rear-transaxle Tempest, LeMans and Tempest LeMans cars

Pontiac Tempest is correct. I actually would autocross my '62 four-banger, four-speed, Tempest LeMans convertible in '68.

RPM was incorrect. The crankshaft of a top fuel dragster will rotate less than 500 times in a 1/4 mile run..

At pole position would be the 1959 Aston Martin DB4 GT, which by now would have traveled 73,335,744 miles. Trailing just behind is the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL racking up 72,451,680.

WHAT WILL TURN 500 RPM IN A QUARTER MILE The crankshaft...... (and a lot of heads!!) smileyCASHS601_zps1c54a9c5
A Top Fuel dragster turns a mere 600 RPMs in a 4 second run
The formula:
Say the engine spins at 10,000 RPM. That's 10,000 revolutions in one minute. In 30 seconds it's halved at 5,000, at 15 halved again at 2500, 5 seconds equal 830, and 4 seconds is about 600 RPM.

OK another trivia question.. What is the DIFFERENCE between a : SPEED SHIFT POWER SHIFT While shifting a manual transmission... SPEED SHIFT - what you and I would do at the local drags Saturday night. Manually depress the clutch and shift as fast as you can for each gear.
POWER SHIFT - basically a NASCAR set up. Never let up on the throttle, just touching the clutch, and quickly grabbing the next gear, QUICKLY THAT IS, as the rpm's can climb 500 in a split second on you A trick to learn to for sure, and definitely a transmission buster! The bonus? - fastest to way to become well trained in transmission re-build and replacement! LOL

You never use the clutch on a power shift. You might try to match rpms with the throttle, but no clutch. On our open wheel formula cars you only use the clutch to get going in first gear. You never use the clutch for the rest of the race, unless you're making pit stops.
