Wisdom and Coyote . YES it is the SX. It was a CUTLASS SUPREME SX . But the pictures I have found only show CUTLASS SX , even though it was the CUTLASS SUPREME BODY STYLE. Example : A more formal Roof Line than the regular Cutlass or 442. Now for the second part : How many years was it produced as a SX ..

Notice the badging on the fender : it says Cutlass SX but the interior Shows the CUTLASS SUPREME script.. The formal roof line was only the Cutlass Supreme Model, in 2 dr or Convt..It also carry's the Notched bumper for the 442 style exhaust tips, a trade mark of the SX also..

You are right on both counts. The SX club does only recognize the 70-71, but the fact they were STILL produced in 1972 Still remains..72 they were offered with 4 spd also , ONLY 72 .. That part I do find interesting , why not 70-71 also ??

This car was built for 7 years with over 90% imported into the US. They have connections with all of the big three US car makers. They came as both coups and convertibles. The coups were sold under 4 names, the convertibles under 3. What were the names?

Was it a Bizzarrini? In doing a little research he used a little bit of almost anything to put his cars together.

No. Not a Bizzarrini. I have heard it has parts from 47 other cars and metal, mostly hand formed, body panels from 26 different companies.

That's one coupe name. Those were the 33 assembled by Holman Moody in 1966, no matter what year is on the title. Part of the GM connection is that they sold the Omega name to GM. Oldsmobile used it. Remember them?

Let's try another one that may not be that hard..
Let's use the years between 1960 and 1980 ..
Of the Big Three :: GM , FORD, CHRYSLER .. What was the Make and Model of the car whose Engine Produced the Most Horsepower to Cubic Inch. A small Hint : It is NOT the 450Hp 454 Cubic Inch Chevy .. It was readily available to the public, if you wanted one ..

To finish off, all the bodies in white and later whole cars were made by Intermeccanica in Italy. The car was originally commissioned by Ford Dealer Jack Griffith. He had made Ford 289 powered TVR bodies and called them Griffiths. Series 200 and updated 400. They were rude and crude. He decided to make a more civilized sports car. He commissioned Bob Cumberford to design the car. He was an ex-GM designer, who worked on Corvettes. (One GM link). Mark Donohue, yes that one, was the development engineer and test driver. Griffith ran out of money and Ford wouldn't sell him drive-trains, so the car was produced with Chrysler 273 engines and called the Griffith 600. 16 coups were made before bankruptcy.
Griffith sold the rights to Steve Wilder, editor of Automobile magazine. Steve commissioned Holman Moody in North Carolina to install Ford drive-trains. These 33 cars were all coups powered by HiPo 289's and called Omega's. Steve lost money on every one and sold the Omega name to GM for $325,000.
Next Intermeccanica tryed to use foreign car importer Genser-Foreman to distribute the cars. They were called GFX for Genser-Foreman Experimental. They only sold 5. That deal didn't work out either.
Intermeccanica decided to distribute the cars their selves through independent dealers. The car was now called the Torino, which was the American name for the city in which the car was built, Turin, Italy. This was the first Torino automobile in the world. Ford, who was still supplying power-trains said the Torino name belonged to them. So the car was renamed, for the last time, Italia, which Ferrari now uses.
So in three years the coupes had 4 names and the convertibles had 3. From 1966-'72 just under 500 cars were built. All but the first 15 with the highest performance small block Ford engine of the time, 289, 302, and 351.

Wisdom. The Intermeccanica would be one Car to have today Wouldn't it ?? Interesting story. You learn something new everyday..
JK : The 69 Camaro Z28 would certainly be a contender, but according to the factory listed HP rating's ( off the assembly line production - not modified from original factory build). I'm afraid it's not the one.. Wisdom : The 327 - 350HP is close , but not the one either.. You both are very close though..

It just so happens I've owned a '68-9 since '96. It has a Boss 302 and I replaced the 4-speed toploader with a 5-speed 3550 from a '93 Cobra. It has less than 42,000 original miles on it and has gone up in value 650% since I bought it.
