OK folks, I have got my first very rough stage of my next build. The cab is from a 1/25 AMT early 50's Chevy truck (think it was the street rod version but not certain) and the chassis is from a 1/24 Heller or Italeri Kenworth that got smashed in the attic. I had to assemble the chassis to a very basic state to figure out where it needs cut so it is held together by small pins and tape for now, as I plan on z'ing the frame at the rear mini truck style. I am using a AMT 50's Corvette custom, again not sure what kit but the box pic was yellow, for a lot of the curves i need for the wings/fenders at the rear. I haven't stripped the paint from the chassis yet so i can mark my cuts without risking marker bleed through. The pick up bed may not be used as I'm sure once i get the main body parts done I'll have another idea. The front end is going to be widened on the wings/fenders and will be a lot lower than in the pics, and the cab is probably not getting chopped to keep it in proportion. I'm hoping to get most of the rough set up done before any glue is used.

Both front and rear wings/fenders are to be widened and stretched and those at the front will be lowered in a early coe position but not as coe style. I have no idea what colour of paint i will use but I may try a two tone paintjob with some sort of dark metallic to show of the lines. At the moment I'm still in the planning stage and will be finishing my current build first which should be tommorow. I look forward to your comments but not as much as really getting going on this. I hope it ends up wild.

I love doing this sort of work on a build, from pretty well broken kits. The planning stage is a great time of the build, and when you finally hit that "LOOK" that you are after, ooo yeah, its time to get at it. I like where this is heading mate, i have a pic in my head , probably not to different to the one you have either. Hope you don't take too long though, i'm excited with this build. impatient-smiley-emoticon

Thanks folks, Engine hasn't been decided yer but I have the engine from the Kenworth and one from a Volvo truck one of them will probably be used. I think I need to use a 1/24 truck engine just to fill the bay or if I go for a 1/25 engine I'll stick 2 hemi's together to make a v16 hemi. I'll be going to my local record shop later (they have a few boat and plane kits along with paints) to get a plane kit to use for fender skirts at the back and possibly for more of the required curves. I think it should make things a little faster than if I tried shaping myself. When i get nearer completing this I may put it to a vote for the bed area since I can't make my mind up, so far I've thought pick up, flat bed, no bed and trailer hitch(not sure of the US term) Thanks again for taking the time to read and reply and happy building.

Well this one has been delayed for a couple of days. I forgot to buy oven cleaner when i went shopping. I have got all the pieces for the frame cut, but need to strip the paint before throwing glue at it. I may still build a new frame for it from scratch, but going to see if this ones up to scratch first as its more battered than it looks in the pics. If i do have to build a new frame it will delay it even more as I will have to mail order styrene for it from south(I live on an island) which takes about a week to arrive. Really hope to rescue the current frame though. No new pics yet as nothing to show. Looking forward to getting going on the body for it though, but that needs the frame done first.

I will get a pic but I may have to do a link to flickr. Not having much luck with pics from there to here just now(think its the last firefox update). I wouldn't say there's not much tourists though. Think it was 40+ liners last summer but winters quiet. There are smaller islands in the group that aint busy. The one I used to go to for my holidays when I was younger is 2 miles by 4 miles if you put a box at the widest points. You can walk around it in 4 hours and it has a native breed of sheep that live on the beach and mainly eat seaweed. Theres lots of archeoligical stuff pretty much every where in the Orkneys as well. Its a pretty nice place in summer but in winter it can get really rough. I'm not sure if you'll have heard of the Italian Chapel but its pretty famous due to being built by prisoners of war in ww2, and I can see it from my mothers house, even though its on another island but you can walk to it due to the churchill barriers. If any of you have relatives who were on the Atlantic convoys in ww2 they have probably been here but may know it as Scapa Flow. We also have 2 Whisky distilleries and one does tours but I'm not sure of the other. Ah man I could tell you so much about this place but then I grew up here. If you really want to visit though I would recommend the second week of august as the second sunday is the day of our local classic car show(highlight of my year)and the day before is the farmers livestock show but you've seen one cows rear you've seen them all. If its just a couple I could probably even offer a place to stay as I aint home much due to looking after my gran, so my house is empty most of the time. I'll stop now or I really will make the longest post this site has ever seen........

Not sure what the deal is, that link works if ya click on it, BUT if you go to post it like a picture ought to be, with the img code, it doesn't allow it, wonder why? ? Any idea Ice? Maybe its flickr? I don't know.....Odd to say the least, maybe they have a special code for that, possibly!?

No the post office is in the grey building. Its to the right of the big doors. Not a bad thing to have 2 mins walk away. And it is that close to the sea. High tide, close the door, shops closed, lol

Ah Hemi your post office is a business, this one is just to keep the community alive, its a break even thing. Sells a little daily stuff but you couldn't live out of it. More of a favour to the locals, the builders is the main thing

That's cool.
Flickr doesn't let you just post pics anymore. It always links it back to their website according to their guidelines.

Firstly I would like to thank everyone for their help with my photo problems, your guidance has helped me greatly. Now on to the truck, I have the rear of the chassis starting to come together. I think I am going to change the sections that go from the lower rails to the rear suspension mounts as the ones I have made are a little too short for my purpose but they have given me the angles i need to use on the next ones, so its not been too much of a time waster. I have also realised that I need to add a crossmember where these parts fit together to add some more strength to the rails. cant really tell from the above pic but the rails do line up not too bad but just not going to be low enough for the front to mount well enough for my purposes. In the pic below you can see the reason for my having to make up some more rail sections, which is down to my not paying enough attention during the rough assembly for measuring, yes the rear airbags have slipped onto their sides and off the mounts so my chassis will now ride far too high at the back. This last pic is starting to shoe roughly how i want the chassis to look
