Yeah its more work than I've ever done in a model but I'm learning loads doing it. Sometimes I wonder what I've started since I have never done anything like this before on a model but I just look in the tips on here and usually find what I'm looking for or a tip I can adapt to suit what I'm doing. If it wasn't for the site I certainly wouldn't have got further than cutting up the frame as I would have probably junked it by now. I think I have most of the bits I need to get the front done the shape I want, but kinda stuck on what to do with the grille just now as its going to be pretty wide. I'm hoping to do something that takes the eye to the grille and not how wide it is. Might try two grilles either side by side or one on top of the other but thats a ways off yet. Thanks for the kind words

I've never tried to build a big truck like this. I have some pick-up models but I haven't even built one of those yet. The big truck's always looked too complicated to me. But, as you said, thanks to this site I'm starting to think I could build anything if I wanted to. Since I joined this forum I'm doing things I never would have attempted before.

Well since I found this site, I am trying so much more than I ever thought possible( was on another site and all I got was "that's wrong)". On here even tips and asked for criticism sound like compliments. Its like I've known all of you since I was a kid. I know I can joke about stuff but you guys make criticism sound like a compliment and I'm not joking. Other sites are like being a politician on twitter. The only other site I go on now is mcm and I only found it through another abusive site. I only look at the nasty one for tips and and on here folk actually help. getting an invite after joining was a proper bonus to me. If the folk on facebook were not people I can speak to face to face this would be my homepage.

and I'm not building a big truck, Its just the chassis. If you look at my first pics you can see how far I have pushed it. All the kits were scrap but what you all build, made/forced me to push myself. It may have been a little too soon but I don't think I could have learnt so much so fast if I had put something very dear to me in a fire!! Yoy all push me on as every time I look at you folks builds I see another defect in mine(thats a good thing)

I know what you mean about this forum Stitch, if you look through the Gallery or the past contest entries and past winners, these guys are GOOD. I thought I was over my head coming in here. My wife and I are both in wheelchairs and I have no friends that come to the house so nobody saw my models but my wife and my dog. I took my nuts in my hand and entered the Bracket Race. Didn't think I had a chance, I just hoped to place well. I won the thing. That's my car at the top of the page. Now I'm really enthusiastic about modeling more than before. This Xmas MOTM build I am doing is really out-of-the-box for me and I can't help but think I'm out over my head again but I look at that car at the top of the page and I think "I can do this. If these guy's think I can make a good model then I can do this." Great feeling. Great forum. Great bunch of modelers.

exactly my point 'D. I've been on other sites and to be honest I don't know why I bothered. It was like being a politician on twitter. On here criticism is like a compliment and it has pushed me to try so much more than I ever thought I could manage. Its like family I have never met since you are all so supportive. On my truck every thing is new(second build in more than ten years and first with so much modifying) yet if i ask for advice its there the next day but being a day(ish) ahead thats fast to me , This is now my homepage, forget facebook, lol. I really could not have found a nicer group of folk if I had fallen into my own imagination

No progress today worth taking pics off. Just more filler on the rear fenders which should hopefully be dry tommorow the the inside to fill. Have got parts cut for the second attempt on the front and may have a grille idea that might work. Considering adding a strip to the cab back and sides to raise it a little so I can have the option of a hood as otherwise the front will be a little too flat looking. The parts I have cut will hopefully give a slight peak to the centre of the front and I have found some lights that may work better than the 4 rounds i was planning. Hope to have it mocked up in the morning and more of the rear fenders completed. I think I have spent more time just looking at the front today trying to come up with a plan

Again no real progress. Just more styrene/glue mix applied. Should be able to get a start on the lower edge of rear fenders later

Not really progress but when I was in town getting masking tape today, the guy in the shop asked if I was the person that asked about small pliers a few weeks ago. Turns out he has ordered in a few pairs of each style and remembered me asking. After that I had a look around the rest of his shop and found those things that you find on the bottom of phones and keyboards to stop the worktop getting marked, that look like they would work for round light lenses and they already have sticky backs on.

-model frame "that" big ole Stitch has a rotary frame lift. and a straightener! LOL A LOT of framework BTW looks GREAT! And your "bowing and twisting" issues resolved now that you found the reason it was "happening" ??

Boy their right, slow going that is.. I know that "movement" all to well! I too am a slow builder but the detailing gets me, I get consumed with it at times.... BUT thats where my passion for the hobby lies too. in all the damned fine detail!
MAKES a great model in the end tho!

Yeah I have the problem of being indecisive and now I keep getting blocked by the grille. I cant get on with the rest of the body until I get the grille done but it just doesn't look right. In hindsight I should have made the grille before starting the front but you live and learn. I'm sure if I was doing it in 1/1 it would go much faster, lol

Wrong pix? That doesn't happen when your craving sleep does it? (There are times, the need of sleep deprives me typing skills!) I always said, "I'll get enough sleep, when I'm dead" I suppose thats true! BUT you need some amount to function...................properly LOL UNLESS "Coffee'd up" and thats me ANY given time!

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was lack of sleep. Can't find the pics I meant to post either now, lol musta deleted them. Made some progress on the grille tonight and after a lot of trial and error I've ended up with something that should work kinda well. Nothing on the centre is glued yet as it needs some fine tuning before I'll be completely happy with it and the surround is still needing filled too. I also tried the superglue and baking soda method to do a little filling on the grille and that stuff is like concrete!!!

Also it was a lot more than 124 holes that had to be drilled. Think it ended up at 260+ before it looked right

Nah my lack of sleep is due to my granny needing help going to the bathroom at night, and having to wake my mother at set times for her meds. Some night I might get 5 hours in one go but that would require them to synchronise but since their women I'll just have to put up with it (no peace otherwise, lol)
