OK, I have a plan for the paint - just need to do a practice run on a spare body I have lying around. Guess I need to freakin open this kit as I have had no time to even open it. BUT at least there is time, whew!

Let me first just say, you guys are all AWESOME!!! Was just reviewing your progress, and Holy Schnikeys!! Outstanding work everyone - me? Ha! Well, let's just say with the week I have had since the kit arrived, on second thought, I can't say any of that, lol All I have been able to do was to pick up a "spar" kit of the same car at hobby Lobby, as a backup for anything I will probably break, (I almost always break, drop, step on, lose, whatever) when I want to do an extra good build. But I still have my plan, and hope to get to ripping, sanding, painting, etc this weekend!

That's the same reason I got the extra kit as well lol plus iv got a 3rd body as well. All this cutting up is something way out of my league but I'm going to give it a heck of a shot. I'm sure whatever you have in mind is going to be out of this world.

Well, after taking a day vacation Friday, thinking I was going to have some hobby time, HA! I mowed the yard, and promptly was ravaged by sinuses and slept the day away. Saturday - Same thing, felt like crap, napped on and off. Finally today, I said I must start the Nova - I am not gonna make the Monster Truck contest, just would not make the deadline, so I opted to finally get after this eBay Nova, still so much undecided. Plus I may get after a couple sidelined builds. Progress pics below:
Now I am stumped again, not liking the silver / gray flocking - GRRRRRRRRRR - Body has a nice Satin white finish after the primer, do I stay white though?

The carpet looks good I think. Why. It spray some clear adhesive over it and sprinkle bother color over it if you want to change it.

Good to see you got some work done on it mate, i don't mind the carpet either, wont look as stark once you get seats in and a body over it.

Hmmmm... thanks guys, Guess I will stay with this.
Great tip Ice, I just may spray and sprinkle a little more to get a nice even coverage. But your right DC, once I get the seats in, that will help

I don't think the carpet looks that bad.. Think it will look good when interior is in..
The white body looks like it came out real good.. White as the base color would be
unusual but kind of like the Idea..Maybe different color designs or stripes or ?? but
keep the white base.. Unusual enough to be very interesting, and yet a open canvas..
Just my .02
Could use almost any Color for Designs-Stripes- or ?? Red - Green - Blue - Silver - Yellow
the possibility's are endless..

That's what I thought 60's era, when I decided on the satin white, I figured at least I would have options. Little did I know, I kind of got too many options! LOL
But I think I have a strange and unique idea, just trying to decide on something that somebody else may want to display, always keep thinking to myself, would I buy this on eBay? That is of course the real bottom line, makin some cash for the club!!

Go with the strange and unique idea ( with white color for base ) That would defiantly be
unique and different among all the Two Tone's or Red ones or Burgundy ones or even Black ones for that matter..
Something not ordinarily seen on a Pro Street Car.. Think it would be positively unique and cool. And I think the Nova body style would lend itself to it well. I would think just not drowned out the White with to much other color..
Again just my .02 worth..... Tom

Oh Yea..
As far as selling on Ebay..
I think a Different or unusual color such as White Base W/ "Strange and Unique Idea"
would be a High Bid Contender...
Good Luck on final choice....

Liking the 2 cents sir - right along what I am trying to achieve!
I think I will spray up a couple of the trash bodies I have lying around and try a few ideas to see what may be the wildest, yet cool. I do agree not to drowned the satin white out. Thinking to keep the stripes in the seats white as well. Definitely want to try and make, or buy a white steering wheel cover! Also am thinking to throw in some white fuzzy dice on the mirror, but changing the dots from black to blue.
So many ideas! Lol - good thing I got an extra kit!

White Steering wheel sounds cool, as I know the kit's wheel is Blue..
Fuzzy Dice cool.. Blue dots ? Is that a hint of one of the strange and unique ideas colors ?
Rock On sounds good....

Finally - had to take vacation, BUT I got after some more work, now just have to keep after it. Not sure what I think so far, it may be too colorful, But here is what I have gotten so far:
Rims sprayed, (these hint to the "wild" I spoke of), rear slicks coated with decal bonder to add some Hoosier decals
Made my own decals of some cool blue "realistic" flames, air brushing style. I guess I should freakin learn to air brush!!
Still trying to finalize what to do interior wise - I threw some more of my decals on the seats, NOT sure Im gonna stick with this, may be too busy. Plus the seats still need a little sanding and another round of touch up flat white. I also tinted the upper windshield. All the decals have an initial clear coat - interior for sure will be finalized with a satin clear, lacquer for the body - BUT gots more to add!!!
IF this turns out as crappy as I think it will, you will be getting 25 bucks ICE!!! Lol - NOBODY would buy this weird ass Nova, it would go ok with my nerdy shelf collection though - Ha! Now you other guys - with your opening doors, convertibles, wider rear quarters, etc, You all got it going on my friends!!!

I think you have the right idea, Tom. I like the flames but the white is overpowering. My two cents, even though they might not help, I would add more flames in the front and maybe longer ones. (See pic below). I would get rid of the ones by the rear wheel wells. I even like the seats that way. You're be surprised what I can sell on eBay. Lol. Plus it's always more fun to see the bids on eBay. It's part of the fun. I'm sure we'd get $$$ for your kit. If you finish I'd really like to out it up with the rest.

Hmmmmmm..............
Good point - more flames, I just may have to rework up another set of decals - great tip Ice. I thought the white may be overpowering, BUT I have a lot more blue chrome to put all around it, so it should bring down the white a bit. BUT I am thinking maybe a quick dip in the pool, and go for a super silver paint job and blue flames, yep, you got me rethinking. The silver would at least match the silver gray flocking, but for sure, just adding more flames may help a lot - thank you sir!

IceMan makes a good point, more is always better ! I really like it and thats what gets bids in this type of contest, you have to stand out from the crowd.

OK , I have to agree with Ice and GB about more flames..More on the nose -- running into the fender and somewhat in the door also.. and i agree nix the 1/4 flame.. I like the white - if anything, possibly a light shot of Blue Pearl over the entire car.. With any chrome( BMF ) work , the white body covered lightly in blue pearl or even a light dusting of blue non pearl color would look killer, even if it did slightly get on to the flames - just don't bury the flames. As far as the seats go - the area now where the decals are , that raised part of the seat could go blue or even silver to complement the rug but lose the decals that are their now.. The silver carpeting would go fine with the White (or dusted blue over all) body. Any Blue Chrome or Chrome trim you do , would definatley complement the Body color ..And then if it is cleared -- it would be Killer and definatley stand out.. I would say don't pond it , give what you have the WOW factor.. Just my 2 cents..

I say, add more flames, leave the white and loose the flames on the seats and paint them in some way to match the flame blue on the outside, the flocking floor carpeting looks GREAT gray, that I'd leave alone....
More or less, "accent" whats there and definitely add more blue flames on the outside, and loose the flames behind the rear wheels.... Don't cover the whole car in flames, BUT a good 1/3rd of the front maybe a 4th of it would be sweet over the white....
