Looking great nice detail Iceman . I agree with everything about the brake and fuel lines also on most cars the fuel from the tank to the fuel pump runs along the inside of the frame rail on the same side of the car the fuel pump is mounted to the engine on ( hope this not to late ) hope this helps

Great looking build Ice !!! Preston's car parts at Model round-up makes a sweet in line fuel filter here's some pic's the little box on top of your manifold could be the fuel relay and regulator box in line fuel filter would look more like this Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Looking good IceMan. Also for fuel filters you can use resistors like you can buy at Radio Shack. Just paint the resistor for what color you want the filter.

Between the pump and the carbs! What I use to do was use a piece of insulated wire and strip all the insulation off except a small piece in the middle. Then I'd use a piece of round styrene and drill a hole in the middle to slip over the insulation. Vola! steel tubing fuel line with a fuel filter and rubber hoses on each side! If you a real gutin for punishment, you can wrap a strand of wire around the rubber hose to represent hose claps.

Coming right along Iceman! I've run a few fuel and brake lines back in the day and they do add a lot to the final product, but it's tedious work!....I may have to give them another shot!

I don't remember now if it was between the tank and pumps or after....I do know that my 98 S10 has the fuel pump in the tank and a filter on the frame rail near the tank.

Yeah I had an 88 ford ranger that had the filter under the door on the frame. I'm assuming these older cars have them by the engine.

Best as I can remember the late 60's early 70's Mopar I use to mess with only had a filter between the mechanical fuel pump and the carb. It was mounted close to the carb. As knarf stated some carbs have a filter that is part of the carb. Its mounted right where the fuel line comes into the carb.

On the older cars I've seen cars with filters in both locations I guess it depends on the builder or owner of said car as to where the filter goes . Most cars from around 1960 and newer the filter was real small and located in the fuel line where it attached to the carb. the in line filter is mainly an after market item not on most factory cars . I have run filters in both locations on my roundy round cars in the past dual filters I guess you could say . Hope this helps .

I think I finally found a pic of what I need...maybe. Is that the oil filter peeking out behind the top right blade of the fan in the first pic? And that little black cylinder on the bottom left of the second pic.

i think for the vintage, the actual fuel filter would have been a glass sediment bowl with a paper filter inside it. the pic's above have aftermarket filters on them. most single carb setups had a stone or paper filter in the fuel feed right at the carb [as far as GM rochester carbs go anyways]. either way, there would have only been one fuel filter in a stock set up. and that would be from fuel pump to carb. the only other filter that would have been used would be a sock filter on the end of the fuel pick up tube in the gas tank.

Seems to be a lot of thouhts on this! I think you could put the filter anywhere you want and be fine. If it were me I'd duplicate what I found in the picture. (just my 2ยข)

Fuel filter . Most guys run the inline filter because the top feed carbs sometimes didn't have filters in the feed. Alot of the quads that screwed in front always had filters.. The inline was more efficient than the paper in carb filter..
