I think I'll go with this. Not going to be able to start for a week or two due to my hand being messed up but want to get my thread in. Will post contents pics once I get started as the kit is at my own house. No plan yet but the body will be stock and it will be low. Tempted to use the drift parts and some resin goodies but I won't be using the wheels in the pic (taller than the wings(fenders))

What did you do to your hand mate?? Someone was being extremely nasty to a friend and ducked when I offered them out, thus the stone wall got hit instead of them. If I'd been more sober I wouldn't have missed but I have no time for bullies and wont let them off with it. Next time I'll use my left, lol

It's just a broken pinky and the finger next it(not fingers I use much anyway), swollen and bruised but gone down a load already. I reckon another week and I'll be able to do some building but I can get some parts prepped for primer anyway

Finally got something to report on this, and well I've decided not to use the kit chassis on this. While the engine looks really good on the box, the reality is somewhat different and it is a top and bottom half with most of the parts moulded in already, which wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for the thick plastic centre leaving little room for doing any detailing, so I thought I would use a tamiya r32 skyline chassis but that idea failed when I remembered I had used most of the suspension parts. Well on to the third chassis choice, a UT models opel calibra touring car chassis and engine which has the benefit of v6 and 4x4. It is a little wide at the rear but a little narrowing of the axle and widening of the wheel arches should sort that so that will be tonight's job. Anyway the weather was nice today so I got the first paint on which I'm going to let sit a few days before masking for the next colour. Don't worry about the bare primer, this is just the colour for the stripes

boy, I WISH I can paint the body first. that would be a dream. too much test fitting going on in my builds. not familiar with this car, like the color and like the "low" part too. I will be watching, maybe learn something about foreign cars. good luck. hope the hands better.

Sat down to narrow the rear end tonight and got distracted by the engine and building a turbo set up for it. Going to change it up and will only be using the manifolds and turbos from tonight though. I just don't like how it looks and besides that it doesn't leave room for the radiator and intercooler. I think my next attempt will have the turbos mounted up higher and further out to the sides if it will clear the suspension or else they will be turned 90 degrees to fit either side of the radiator and intercooler. I need to leave space for two oilcoolers as well so it's going to be a tight engine bay. I'm also undecided on the engine colour but it's probably the least of the problems just now, lol

That is a problem even with a big engine bay, trying to squeeze 2 turbo's in there , and all the other stuff you need. Very nice looking turbo's too i must add.

The turbos are hobby design ones, all their parts look that good. I'll be using their oil coolers and intercooler as well

Oh man - I agree with Dale - those turbo's are sweet for sure. Sure hope you can get them both in there, somehow - freakin awesome!!!

And now it's brown. Going to have to redo the passenger side rear quarter panel though, pesky midges(tiny scottish mosquito type pests)

Excellent progress man!!! two-thumbs-up-smiley-emoticon Dam little knats, those tiny buggers are such a PITA. We got em here as well in Oklahoma. Pretty much everywhere I have been, from Japan, to here, hate those dam little knats and mosquito's
Those gold stripes will look great against this brown though - looking forward to that!!

Well it wasn't a long wait CC, and for once it's not all the paint that lifted with the tape so for me that's a result, lol. Shouldn't be too difficult to fix either though I may do the gold over the brown on the touch up areas. Seriously, that's the only 2 bits needing repaired phew-smiley-emoticon The last picture is to show the size, the VW bus is the same scale as the skyline

It's only the paint and interior that will be 70's, the rest is going to be bang up to date. Well after last nights fail on the turbo set up I went hunting through my box of random sprues and found some from another v6 engine that needed a couple of mods. I trimmed them down a little then added more to the end, but left them longer than I'll need so I can shape and trim them once the glue has set. Those are the wheels I will be using underneath which will be tomorrows job as I need to have them together to make sure I narrow the rear the correct amount. Before After After that I made a start on the inner floor(this chassis has an inner and outer with most of the running gear between them). I didn't want the race car electronics so I cut that side of the floor out and replaced it with some flat sheet after using the removed part as a template. I'm also experimenting with making some silicone pipework for the engine. For this I'm using some wire removed from a starter motor solenoid, wrapped in some thin diameter heat shrink. If it works it will save me from bending styrene and give a more realistic look to them. And finally I did a bit of painting on the seats. The rear is the stock skyline seat, and the fronts are possibly from a 70's ferrari or porsche. I'm hoping to have a singer porsche style to the interior when it's finished.
