I don't want to stir things up with the 56 Vic and I will probably build it as a custom at a later time. So this will be my entry for the anniversary contest. I have a few ideas that I want to try on this one. I have to start the thread so I can commit to it.

Thanks everyone. I cleaned up the mess that the wagon caused me to make. Clean bench and two more kits on it. You know me and building two of the same at the same time. So one for the contest and one for fun. I have a vision for the contest one but still trying to decide what direction to take the second one. Last night, other than cleaning up the area, all I really did was clean up mold lines and man does this one have some. The older kit had some thick ones. The newer one had more subtle lines but they had to go. The other thing I did was get rid of the fake shiny chrome most kits come with. I recently read an article on Scale Auto magazine on how to give it a more realistic look. I've done the stripping of the chrome and then painting with Alclad or Spaz Stix. This method is a lot cleaner and faster. Using Tamiya Smoke, you just brush on light coats until you get the desired look. Some of you probably already knew that but if you didn't, there you go. Nice little trick. Don't say you don't learn anything from me. First picture is one tree right out of the box and the second one is the other tree with one coat of smoke. Not sure if it needs another coat but I figured I'd let it dry overnight since this paint gets tacky very quickly. I even like it for a black wash to be honest.

I like the effect of the smoked chrome Ice, much more realistic for sure! I have a can of Testors window tint, smoke color. I wonder if this would do kind of the same. Gonna have to give it a try I think.
I hopefully will graduate to airbrushing this year, BUT, I have such a stash of spray paints, I need to use them up. I get so many free ones, it's like I never run out!

I know what you mean, CC. I have a lot of spray paint that I will probably never use. I need to start selling some of it. I've tried tinting windows with that stuff you got, and failed every single time. It's garbage in my opinion. Maybe if you decant alittle then brush it on. Just shake it a lot. STOP SHAKING YOUR BEHIND, TOM!. I meant the can. poke

More work on this one. I think I have a plan. smileyCACETROO_zps365bb43e Cab too tall for where this is going. This would be about a 6 inch chop. Still needs a lot of work but it's a great start. Also started the thread for, not only a second version, but also a third. Check them out.
