Well, it's been a while since i got into a major body custom, so here goes. I am starting with a very second hand 32' Mercedes, which is in much need of some attention. Where it goes, i am not sure yet, i'll just start cutting and see how it goes back together. HERE GOES!!

Broke it down, and started removing some plastic from underneath, so it does not get in the way when its on the ground.

DC, This is on the way to being COOL!! What if you shorten the length of the front fender from the cowl end? Then when it is lowered the body will look more balanced.Unless , you are looking for that LOW LONG look.. The original design of the car is nice, it just looks front end heavy to me.. Just my 2 centavos.. Keep us posted,,I am watching this build.. popcorn-and-drink-smiley-emoticon Rick

Thanks too Iceman, it wont be long, i have a long week-end here today, so modeling it is, all day.

Cheers men, here is the major change, a new roof. First, REMOVE! I found a roof in the stash, i think it is off the smoothster, but not sure, and it was not wide enough, but i liked the profile, so, out with the scalpel and split it down the middle. Then i made an ineer lining, firstly, to hide the joins, and also to keep the two halves even. Top view. ADDED a piece of 2mm thick styrene. New profile. A lot of work yet on this body, as there are a lot of holes and seams to get rid of.

Got to keep you on your toes young Hemi, well, the straight 8 in the pic, is just not cool enough for this build, i seriously thought about a blown Hemi, still am really, but, i also found 452CI of Cadillac V16. smiley-scared002 This will be a bit more period looking, and i can also fabricate a sweet induction set-up for it, maybe. This could be interesting i think.

Where did you get this motor son? You have to tell, I must know! Well, quite a few years ago, I got a box of old stuff, like the Merc I am doing here, along with a couple of early Cadillacs and an old Renault I think it is, they were all glue bombs really, in the same condition of the one I just started here. I went through the box the other night looking for more power and found this, then had to google it to see what the hell it was myself.

Dale, thats some freakin CADDY motor! BUT as you said, I like the Hemi idea, BUT........ the Caddy motor is much more period correct, and like that a bit better (YES, I am a period set kinda guy that way) PLUS the Hemi.......... its been done I bet, a V-16 Caddy, hasn't! And I must say has a ring to it......Going in a car such as this! Yes even I stray away from a Hemi gesture......NOT often, but.......in this case, you just can't find a V10 Hemi or a V16 Hemi can you? ? This is INSANE motor for this car, BUT will do that I-8 replacement nicely!

Don't know if it's the same one but Heller do a v16 caddy, and with your saying there was a renault in the box too that would be my guess as to the origin

Jo-Han made 3 different V-16 Caddy's and Italieri made the one-of-a-kind Joan Crawford V-16 Caddy. I have one of each of them. I'll look and see if the engine in any of them resembles this one.

O-M-G. twin turbo with twin blowers on a V-16? You could RUN 4 blowers, in-line front to back and have them force fed by a set of twin turbo's one turbo PER blower set up.....
OK I'll stop now! evil6

Thankyou Frank, Mike and Tom, (welcome back too mate ), and HemiJ, settle buddy, no turbo's or blowers on this one, if 16 cylinders dont cut it, well, toooooo bad. !! The body is in putty primer, found some wheels for it, and hopefully, this is where i can make it sit.

DeeCee, What is Putty Primer. Is that a one step stuff or did you just do the putty work and then prime it Tom
