Not sure what the hamster coffin has to do with car models. Would make a great diorama for a Li'l Coffin build.

i have just recently paid some exhorbitant sums of money for model kits on the bay, but then again, i'm an idiot, but i'm ok with it, lol. but, i have also scored some deals, paid $1.04 for a pete 359 kit, opened/motor built, but all there. so i don't feel bad, the fleeceing i took on others is tempered by the deals.

I'm a little busy to post the link - my 95 yr old mom took a fall down the old home's stairs and now she's in the hospital, bumped & bruised, claiming a broken neck disc. However, considering when I called her room, she told me she was at home already and she's told my dad about having nightmares and claiming he's upside-down standing in front of her, I'm more concerned about her state of mind.
Anyway - 1988 Beretta Pro Mod/Street - looks to be twin turboed six cyl, normally goes for 40-50 bucks. One seller had theirs in black molded plastic for $109. They also had a "rare" orange molded one for $200? I don't care if it's MIB, un-opened, it's not worth that if you're gonna have to do more work painting over it! Too bad also; the model had beautiful engine, tubs, wheels and tires.

CM: His Willys 1st pic looked like it was in the staging lanes. That's why he's asking so much

CM - we are all grateful for the prayers. She's alert, joking and recognizes everyone; it's just everytime this happens my sister and I go through all this work of looking for an assisted living facility, and they're all mega-bucks. My folks home was bought for $13,500 in 1957 and is now worth over $500k due to its location near Metro to D.C. It's a tiny little pristine rancher and they don't want to move. They'd rather die there than give up what they've gotten use to all these years...
Struggling with the final steps of the build. Got glue smudge while attaching the headlights; tamiya painters tape did the same thing. If I could just get my decals from SLIXX, I could see how to use flames to cover up some of the last minute junk and finish 'er off. I got the wing installed and my homemade supports painted and installed too. The cowl hood got sanded too much and has a 1/8 gap on either side, so I picked up some styrene today and cut/bent pieces for either side and super glued them. What a mess. Resin and styrene DON'T play well together. After sticky fingers and tamiya tape, both sides are in place and sanded so they fit. Now I need to sand the entire hood, prime & prep and then shoot some flat black and flat clear coat. After that I'll put the Dzus decals back on. Major lesson learned about NEVER test fitting parts when the car is on a painting jig!
How 'bout ol' Johnny Force taking the poll for Reading PA this weekend and finally running in the 3 second zone? With only 3 races left, if he wins here and heads west with the lead in points it might just be over for Shumaker.

What in tar hooties?!?!? These folks from Krazistan or what? I wonder if that Merc is just a posting error using Congressional numbers, putting the decimal in the wrong place. If not somebody needs to get a flight back to Earth.

Wow, that might end up being a deal of the century, but your right, the shipping will be brutal. If I was within 500 miles of there I would be watching this closer.

It has been about three months since there was an update here, so maybe it is too late to chime in. I couldn't see the items you were talking about, but know all too well the type of seller you are talking about. In all fairness to Iceman and other reputable? sellers (just kidding Iceman), I just got an item for $7 + under $3 S&H. The description wasn't the best, and there was only a picture of the boxed kit. It was still a good deal, but not what I expected. In messaging with the seller after receiving the item, she said it was a friends kit she was selling and he wanted $20 to be the starting bid only because it was an OOP kit.She dropped the price to what she thought it could sell for, and just forfeited her share of the profit for that item. If all that was true, it goes to show you that not all sellers are crooks and/or delusional.
While I think sellers like the ones above are crazy, they are better than the ones who use some of the other tactics out there. The ones who get me are the ones who test the market by have a starting bid of $0.01 (or some rediculously low amount), but set a reserve price so high nobody will reach it. Then, when that auction ends without the item selling, they relist it at just a dollar or two above the highest bid from the previous auction, hoping the same bidders will snatch it up since they missed out on the last one.
But the sellers I can't stand are the ones who set the S&H at what it would cost to really mail the item PLUS the minimum amount (reserve) they would accept as a bid. I came across one of those today. The item was in the US, so it wasn't a matter of international shipping costs. They had it listed for right around $10 , which would have been a great price, but had shipping hiked up to $45! I am estimating, based on experience, that actual shipping might have gone as high as $17 because of size, not weoght.
I know this is getting long, but while I'm complaining about ebay sellers, let me include the ones who use the computerized shipping labels with the postage included. I've looked and looked at these labels, and cannot find anywhere where it has printed the amount of postage. Call me old fashioned, but I like the ones that were taken to the post office, weighed, and had a label with the postage amount stuck on at the counter. In my own little rebellion, when I get an item with the computerized label, I rate the shipping at 3 stars, since I can't tell if it was reasonable or not.

You better stay away from my store then, Ghost. Lol. Just kidding. Before I build my reputation on eBay it was definitely difficult because of some these type of sellers that you mention. I was just having a conversation about it with an acquaintance today. I know quite a few people that don't like eBay and they blame eBay for what happens. There are some pretty bad sellers out there and they leave a bad taste in your mouth that naturally you don't want to go back. Or they complain about the fees that eBay charges. Everyone is in to make some sort of money, but the good sellers (like iceman hahaha) are pretty fair. I try to be, anyways.
The customer service is offered by the seller more than from eBay. My advice is review the feedback. It's speaks tons of the seller, then compare that to the number of feedback they actually have. We can't please all buyers. Some have ridiculous demands and some leave negative or neutrals for no apparent reason at all.

I'm always seeing crazy prices online. I'd been looking for some AMC models for a long time, but they're always over $100! I was lucky to sneak an AMX away for only $30! It's frustrating, and I completely understand how angry one could get. What really angers me are pre-built models that aren't painted and the guy wants 50-60 for it.
