so, the bracket race theme last month was pro street, but the MOTM theme THIS month is pro street? you guys got a lot happening on this site. hard for this old guy to comprehend it all. I feel like the kid in class that's on the wrong page because Sally's mini skirt is riding up and I am paying attention to all the pretty sites instead of what's going on.
now, 8 billion projects and I have to start another one to compete; have to show progress shots; 5 pictures as stated in the rules; and 3 weeks to complete. darn it, I hate to pass up pro street month!! you all have great builds going on. again I may just sit back and enjoy the sites.... of your builds of course.

There is a lot going on here with MOTM and bracket races every month plus special builds. But one secret that helps is that for the MOTM you can look ahead at the upcoming projects and start building ahead of time. Take your pictures but make sure not to post them until the begining of the month you want to enter them in. As for the brackets, these can be previously build and / or seen, but I think if they have won a prize before (on this site) they can't enter. The weekly "cruise" is just whatever you want to show off so long as it fits the theme. Hope this helps!

Al is correct but we currently have no rule about previous winners only you can't renter it in the same contest. So one you been in motm you can use it in bracket race but that's it

thanks for all the replies and getting this old guy straight. I thought that's the way it was, but I like to be sure. now, I was going to add a poll on a few builds I have in mind but I don't think I can add a poll unless its at the start of the post. I was going to let you guys pick the build that was going to kick all your assuming I can get it done in 3 weeks.
hehehe (that's mu evil laugh!!)....
the self proclaimed "KING OF PRO STREET" has spoken!!
good luck to all, Tubbs

HOLY COW!!23 hours has passed since I last posted here and all I have done is get the build down to 3, maybe 4... or 5. I am leaning towards a flintstone resin 64 Plymouth sedan, hemi, resin rat roaster intake, back halved with the max rat chevelle rear or will throw the p/s super bee chassis under it. have a resin single headlight grille and some spring tires out back. no cutting doors open or spaghetti roll cages, just a straight shooting pro streeter. leaning towards something like this. I have a real nice turquoise color I am going to try to do the interior as well as the exterior. haven't don't that to a build yet. Attachment Deletedmy other choices were a duster, a 65 el camino, 41 willys and a 64 chevy II. most requiring more work than the little time I have. good luck to all, Tubbs

gotta get some picts up. I actually worked on it last night. sections the max rat chassis back half to the stock front half. put frame stiffeners in, but don't like the placement of them. found some hemi motors, headers and the rat roaster manifold. have to find some decent carbs or I will have to glue an air cleaner on it to hide them. had to go with the floor from the dodge due to the roof line. one floor is a 4 speed floor and one is an auto. will have to look at that tonight and make sure I have the right tranny in there.
tonight might be a good night or a bad night, Browns play their 1st exhibition game tonight. I may have to bring stuff up to the table. I also have to work on my cuda. these deadlines are killing me!!

[br maybe paint them body color then once it dries dullcote them... man, my typing skills are horrendous!!! yea, that's what I was thinking AK. also, the paint I will be using is duplicolor lacquer, so it has a goofy sheen to it anyways. between that, the oils from my fingers and nose (an old bowling trick) some dull and semi gloss clear coats, I should be able to sort it out. just with the limited time, I don't want to do things 6 times... I know I will do them at least 3 or 4 as it is..

well, went to load pictures I took of the Woodward cruise and progress shots of the builds and the cord that goes to the computer from the camera is missing. it's always something. anyways, spent last night gathering up parts for the 64 while listening to the Tribe drop another one. got 90% of them now. need carbs, shifter, glass and some minor stuff. don't want to put an air cleaner over the carbs but for the street, you heed one. need to select rims. spent an hour on the rat roaster intake. its a slush casting and the to and the bottom do not go together well at all. had to sand a good 16th off each side. got tired and just glued it together, now I have to worry about clearance for the hood. I think tonight will be a marathon gluing/priming session while watching my Browns. I will put up pictures as soon as I find that cord.

I use the duplicolor paints most of the time too mate, what i do on a new build if i am color coding the interior, is DON'T use undercoat on the interior bits. This way, the paint soaks into the plastic a bit, and keeps the texture and wont shine, looks a bit more realistic. The only bit i do undercoat inside is usually the dash, you want that sucker to shine. Look forward to the pics when you get them up, sounds like a great build.

I am going to spray this weekend so maybe I will try it out on scrap piece of plastic. I am going to try a few things on plastic to see what I can come up with. thanks.

I use lacquer paints all the time bud I normally prime my parts in cheap Walmart primer white or grey then just spray it. Plus my clear I use is also lacquer I've personally never had an issues.

I have been having terrible luck with clears lately.

For a body, i always undercoat, but for the interior, as you are not layering the paint on, it will soak into the plastic a bit, but not enough to harm it. BUT, do try a sample piece. I also try to stick with the same type of paint, if the color is automotive acrylic, use the same clear paint aswell, less chances of reactions that way i find. (and found out the hard way)..

ok, made some progress Saturday night (Bay city Rollers, remember them?) gathered up most of the engine components to get them glued up and ready for paint Attachment Deletedsanded the heads smooth for tha aluminum head look. put the rat roaster together, huge gap between the 2 halves, sanded them till I ran out of patience, glued them together, then filled the gap with putty. I know the hood will not close with this intake. Attachment Deleted

so I have a week to finish this build and I decide to do time consuming things, oh like 1 fan normal fan belt isn't enough to handle 1,000 hp hemi. so, we are going to do a serpentine belt. I need another fan assembly... to the parts department.... Attachment Deletedafter 20 minutes of searching, and of course, looking at other stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with the build. I find another fan ass'y. Attachment Deletedcut and sand the front side of one and the backside of another, glue them together and VUALA!! a serpentine belt for my hemi Attachment Deleted

here is what I have for the chassis right now.... if I get to go down tonight, it won't look like this after I get done. do not like the position of the frame stiffeners. that is the front half of the 64 Plymouth and the back half of the 67 chevelle pro streeter. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedI plan on doing a tubular k-member also. I would like to change out the rear end for a dana, but that's not going to happen.

another "don't have to but I am" part is the oil pan. going to deep sump this guy. everyone leave their mark on a build, at least I think so. well, my trademark are deep sump pans and the oil pan is ALWAYS painted gold. so it's find a pan.... Attachment Deletedgo to the scrap heap and find some material to increase the depth. Attachment Deleted

then it was off to the interior. gathered up the pieces and sprayed lacquer right over the plastic, hey, it worked!! never a doubt. just need to put a little more on Attachment Deletedhere you can get a look at the color its going to be. don't know if I want the body color to be a little darker or lighter, that will tell me to use either white or black primer... what do you guys think?
