Well since I'm done with MOTM for the year I looked at the 2017 list and have a question about the August theme "Rice Rocket Cars - Modified Japanese Imports". Does this mean it has to have been built in japan, or does it mean a car manufactured by a Japanese manufacturer? It's so hard to determine where cars are built anymore. I've got an old Nissan Mid-4 glue bomb that I'm itching to do something with but its not your traditional rice rocket.

The Mid-4 was built in Japan but was only a prototype. So I guess that kind of kills it because it was never "imported". I think the theme does need clarification though because as I mentioned previously, although many cars are Japanese, not all were built in Japan. Some were built in America or elsewhere. So shouldn't it be that the company has to be Japanese?

Think in lines of real cars. If the car is a rice burning fast and furious import then it should be good. Even thou its not an import this kit would be fine. It doesnt matter where the kit was built, could be a German kit of a Japanese car sold in American. What japanese car is built in america ?

Before I go posting pics, does a MOPAR have to be from a specific year range or would any of those car manufactures work. For example a 1941 Plymouth.
I know you guys are huge fans so let me know if that would qualify.

OK, say someone on this site is extremely slow at building (I won't mention my...er, his name) and he had full intensions on finishing the low rider build, but never posted anything. since it is a chevy, can it be used for April's MOTM build? (being a Mopar guy, I can only build 1 chevy at a time. that's in the Mopar by-laws).
and it wasn't my...er, his fault February is the shorted month of the year!!

Tubbs, I hear ya man! I seem to run out of time for a lot of my builds too. I would say that since it was never entered in the previous contest that it is able to run in the current one. Grandpabeast, do you agree?

Go ahead and keep putting it together, I am pretty sure it's ok. I have to answer to GB so I thought I would have his input before I set it in stone. This month's theme is a very broad one; Chevrolet. It could be anything from the very first Chevy to roll off the line all the way to a 2017 Corvette. It also says any way you would like to build it so it could be factory stock, prostreet, or lowrider.

That MID4 is a sweet looking car. I for one would love to see it done with a tuner/ricer flair. I don't know if poet is still around or plans on building that one but I for one would like to see how he does it.

All my import kits are either Ferrari's or Porsche Le Mans cars. Can I do a '80-90's Dodge Charger as an import Tuner?

It can be any car or truck , it just needs to be built in the style of the fast and furious street racer type cars .

I agree GB. Tuners typically had small displacement engines and most had turbochargers. They usually had large diameter wheels with small profile tires. The more I found out about tuners the more open the subject is. I always assumed tuners were Japanese cars until I saw a Camaro done in such a manner.
