It would be a hot rod . Basically every car in American graffiti would be a hot rod . It's more of a building style because you can still build a hot rod today. But the style of cars built from 62 and older would be hot rods. After that the factory started building muscle cars and the whole style changed and we got street machines . You can take a 92 Chevy caprice and build it as a hot rod because it's a style! More important if this still doesn't help define it just ask ( you can pm me ) if your idea will work !

For this months pro street build would a vw based car qualify? If not it's cool as I have another I can build but a vw pro street tends not to be back halved but has all the other requirements

More of a general MOTM question. Not sure if this has been gone over yet but is it within the guidelines to use a model in a members challenge and then use it later in a MOTM?

Can you give us an example of what you mean?

If I understand this correctly, I do not have to build the car for MOTM during that month. So if I had a pickup I wanted to build for November this year I could start it today, taking the necessary photos, and upload them in the proper section when November rolls around. I saw an open challenge for NASCAR builds and the kit I was wanting to know if I can use the same kit in that competition and use it again in MOTM when NASCAR comes back as a theme.

Got it. The answer is no. You can build ahead of time without a problem, but you can't have it entered into a contest prior to that. MOTM has to be its first.
Hope that answers your question.

ok, on the 2016 MOTM list, we have show rods, do they have to be box stock or can we... say... improvize on the build?

I think he means build in that style. You can use a kit or build one you seen. Most show rods were never meant to be driven and thus got the trailer queen tag. Things like the pinball wizard or pink panther we're show rods. You can ( I would think ) add to a show Rod lit if you think you can make it better or build your own. Hope this helps but ice has the final say

If you want to build something that everyone would consider one, I don't see why not. Looking forward to that month!

Does this mean that TV show cars such as the Monkee Mobile or Munsters couch would be acceptable?

Again ice would have the last say ( he runs motm ) but I thing TV and movie cars would be a class all there own. Try googling "Show Cars" or Ed Roth , Starbird or Thom that should give you some ideas .

Yes, Yes, YES! All these qualify and lots of those are in kit form.
Although the Munsters Koach and the Monkeemobile are considered show cars, I'd be afraid of losing votes because some will think the cars don't fit the category. To me personally they do seem more like TV/movie cars. Since they were built by Barris and Jeffries, I'm going to say we'll allow it, but I'll let you decide if it's the choice of kit you want to go with.

Had you asked this already? I'm sorry if I missed it John. The question sounds familiar do I might have read it and not answered.
I would say no. To me it's still a wagon. I think to stay true to the theme, it should be late 70s, early 80s.

I wanted it to be a secret, but I suck at secrets..... I want to take a show rod and do a modern spin on it. their idea, but a little more modern style. no, it WILL NOT be a rat rod. I have an old beer wagon I was thinking on the lines of modernizing.
