First off, I lost about half of my progress pics a couple weeks ago when my 2 year was playing with my phone. He completely wiped my SD card, about 700 pics/vids from the past six years gone.
So with that I still have enough for you to know what's going on lol. My build ignores the fact there is a second movie!
Back story...
The year was 1967 and John Milner was still street racing his duece coupe to pay the bills, until one night he lost control from a slick blowing out. The coupe was totaled, only thing he salvaged was the 283 he built. The rest of the car was sold off and gave him the funds to start a new project...
After a few years of lots of hard work, Milner was finally finished with his project, a 1932 Ford Roadster altered drag car!
Now onto the build pics. This is a three part build with the drag roadster, tow rig and trailer!

Here's the only early mockup pic I have left... IMG_20141205_225828 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr The base kit is the Revell Rat Roaster kit. The frame is from another Revell deuce kit, the front axle is from a Revell '29 Ford 3 'n 1 kit and is basically a stock Model A Ford axle. Here's the front axle stripped of chrome and I also drilled the "king pins" and cut some spindles off of a Revell '32 Ford 5 window kit axle. I also made some steering arms from .010 styrene, so it has possible steering. IMG_20141205_225840 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr IMG_20141205_225627 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr I filled the front cross member to raise the height to get the stance I was looking for. Here's a mockup with the front axle painted. IMG_20141205_225817 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr I cut a bunch of un-needed junk off the rear of the frame and solid mounted the Ford 9" rear end to the frame rails. IMG_20141205_225806 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr The engine is the Potvin supercharged 283 from the rereleased AMT parts pack. I made a engine mid plate out of .010 styrene. IMG_20141205_225735 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr I forgot to mention, the roadster trunk lid was cut out and the louvered trunk lid from the 5 window deuce was installed. Here is a mockup with the firewall installed and notched for clearance and you can also see the louvered trunk. IMG_20141205_225724 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr I decided I should add some cage to the rear where I removed all the strength. I also installed a '40 Ford trans mount/frame x-member. IMG_20141205_225649 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr IMG_20141205_225639 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr The completed front axle. IMG_20141205_225614 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr And now we start getting some paint on the main bits. IMG_20141205_225602 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr IMG_20141205_225547 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr The headers are from the eBay Nova with cut down flanges, other then those and the mid-plate and plug wires the engine is from the box. Oh I also stripped all the chrome from it too lol. It still needs a black wash, but that's where I am at with the car.

Now some tow rig build pics!
This is the 1962 Ford truck resin kit I got from Iceman.
IMG_20141113_055122 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr
Some body work to fix the sink marks and you can also kinda see the top of the engine here.
IMG_20141205_225713 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr
The aluminum slots are from the parts box as well as the engine. The engine is a Boss 302 from the Revell 1970 Mach 1 kit, I cut the trans off and added one from a parts box engine that I think was a flathead. The new transmission has the proper look and length for a pickup gearbox now.
IMG_20141205_225700 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr
That's all for now, I'll take some pics when I get home tonight of where I'm at now. Thanks for looking and of course comments welcome!

Holy crap!!! Youve been busy with this one and great idea too. The only thing missing will be Milner himself 10 years older. Great job on that front axle. Great job on everything so far. Youre going to set the bar high with this one, it looks like.

Thanks Ice! I've been working on this since before the kits started rolling in lol. I'll also be using the trailer I got from you on this. Oh I don't think I mentioned it above, the slicks on the rear of the car in the last pic are wrinkle walls from speedcityresin.com/.

JB this is really Great! You've obviously given a lot of thought to this. Some fine work you are doing. Love the engines, of course. Some of this stuff you do I have no idea how to do yet. You know those parts pack engines, I found a guy selling those in bulk a couple of years ago. Boxes with one each of all four engines, Ford,Chevy,Pontiac and Cadillac at a price I couldn't pass up. I bought 50. I have those engines out the ying yang.

Jesse, I have that Rat Roaster kit and if I use the engine that in it I will change out the dinky carburetors that come with it. It really peeves me when they put little carbs on a big engine in a kit. I really like the potvin blower setup like you are using. Here are the engine packs I bought. They came 4 in a box. like a case of engines I guess. The guy wanted $3.75 a case. I got them for $3.00 a case because I bought 20+ cases. I have enough for parts as well as whole engines. Couldn't pass it up. They might be hot. I hope so.

Thanks John! I knew that blower would get ya going again lol.
Dennis, I've seen those engines used quite a bit and they seem to go together well and look good. I need to score me at least one of each sometime.
I forgot to mention above, if you look at the last pic of the roadster engine you'll notice a almost chrome looking pipe with a cap on top. That's the water fill I added. Its made from solder and a radiator cap from a Revell 5 window kit.
Thanks for all the great comments fellas!

I saw that pipe just didn't know what I was looking at. I'm going to try that on the next one of these engines I build. I like the detailed clamps too.

I tell ya Dennis, I'm only 30 but I had a heck of a time painting those dang clamps along with the rubber couplers lol. My hands aren't near as steady as they used to be, and they weren't that steady before! I have one of those lighted magnifiers that go on your head coming in the mail, hope that'll help a little.

I'm not sure I'm good enough to beat the fellas on this site Ice, but if by some off chance the planets align and that does happen I might just pick those lol.

I used the one for your head and it works but I had trouble with it. I use this set up now and like it a lot. The brushes you use matter a lot in detailing also.

Like Dennis I didn't like the one on my head. I have a magnifier lamp similar to what he shows also. I really like it. Mine uses a fluorescent circle line bulb. I put a 6500 daylight rated tube in it. Works great.
