Oh yeh, Skippy likes. I just picked up the L700 with the flatbed and '40 Ford coupe. I'm thinking about getting a couple more L700s for a couple of nostalgic race hauler ideas of my own. I really like the last one you posted with the trailer.

The last one was started actually 8 years ago & due to space limitations in my home at the time was a here & there build the trailer first then after moving back to the city (one without hurricanes this time) with a slightly bigger house I started the tractor & could occupy the dining room table a couple days a week Now I have a dedicated model room & a section of the basement to contain a 12'X12'X12' U shaped Diorama table Those open spots in the center are windows that are edged & flush mounted The floor totally reconfigured is now covered in new double diamond tread plate The front being the bunkhouse & such the sole lower space for a car will house the star of this Mopar Race team a 68 Hemi Super Stock Barracuda when the cars are on it & a ProMod RamCharger or SWB Fleetside 75 Dodge D100 ProMod when the trucks are on it The area behind the sleeper on the truck is storage for tools & parts This is another project waiting in me to finish my materials list

The TV Tommy Ivo haulers! They are inspiration for a couple ideas of mine also. He would haul his custom Corvette on the roof of them to have a car to drive and usually a couple dragsters in the bottom.

When I was looking for pics of King Richards Dodge LS1000 transporter & saw Tommy's haulers & thought I'd do at least one then when I found out I was receiving two frames then I figured I may as well build 2

The frames arrived Sat & I got home last night & dug out my saw & knife & started carving a little Mostly separating the rear springs from the frame so I can do the twin axle frame first, I have a deal going for another L700 kit & looking for another one

Here's the progress so far I used # 189 Evergreen styrene inside the frame rails before I trimmed them for axle clearance I moved the axles forward & made the rear wheelwells longer to work with the twin axles The other frame is a stock one assembled exactly as this one was I set my mock up cab on it to get an idea More coming tonight I fell asleep before I was able to post these last night + I was fighting off chairvision & thoughts of doing something other than TV's truck So I figured I'd ask ya'll what y'all would do with this frame or another like it

I set the front axle & cab distance I use this built cab to mock up all my L700 builds now All I have to do now is glue the Dodge frame horns on & locate them with the bumper & cab That way the tilting of the cab can still work Getting ready to dig through my parts & dig out the rear ends & springs A new L700 is on the way soon with another to follow Then I'll almost be caught up on my L700s with only two more to go after these arrive

I love the way they look but they are a building challenge especially the doors. I'm doing a team build right now with one. Ye old TOOL_MAN here's a few pics.

The L700 itself is a little challenge & nothing seems to fit right without filing & sanding

Thanks guys for the inspiration! I have a couple of these and was looking for ideas. I really like the ramp body. I had thought of that but had not mocked it up yet.

The Ivo hauler was something in its time! I luv the Dodge L 700 kit. Can't beat it for things one can do with it, and it has opening doors. Back in the day I didn't like the look of the front end (headlights especially), but have come to luv it since then. Thanx for sharing ideas and fotos!

I like them a lot back in the 70's I parked those cabs & modified A100 cabs on different frames & built some trucks I even did one in a 6X6 in a snow/off road theme as a rollback/equipment hauler among other themes I think that I'll only do the twin axle Ivo with the other frame going to another creation of chairvision like maybe the tractor part of a newer style car transporter or something

do the Ivo trailer DA. It will look awesome and you can make it look just like the picture. Myself I am a D series guy and almost bought a real 1 to 1 D600 box truck from a customer I deliver to. Had a 318 3 barrel (yes a 3 barrel) with a 4 speed, no 2 speed rear end, but it did have a second fuel tank and the truck was rust and dent free. Had the vision of making a car hauler out of it but there was a title issue and the guy would not fill out the proper papers so in the end it got taken to the scrap yard. I really cried over that one as other that a few panels of broken glass, a good cleanup and removal of the crappy box it was pretty close to mint. What a waste. I am searching for a cab like this in resin. I have enough extra LRE cabs and may just have to get some real pictures and make one.

I'm helping a Moparts member who's trying to find a hood for his real D series enclosed car hauler with a Cummins If a caster does a conversion kit for them I'll buy some as I have bought another Dodge truck JY & now have 20 or so new or built/unpainted cabs to use now too bad most are LRE trucks

Thanks Y'all ! I do multiples in a production line way The haulers were started this way I have already built engines & painted them for 10 different Dodge pickups
Knarf I started that going on 6 years ago at least & with life & a 400 mile move I neglected it But I've got the materials on my list to get it to paint which is where I'll be held up with deciding colors

Bob, That's one truck, I've always sort of wondered about... How close are they to look like the A100? I mean yeah sure the front is close...but the rest of the trucks "cab" as I too would not mind getting at least one of these to build a "team" with my monster truck, BUT that's a ways away!
You of all people here knows me as far as auto's go from forabodiesonly, so.....
I'll be keeping my eyes out on a Dodge L700, My question is, what engine they put in the model?

Industrial 361 or 413 They're a A series throughout without a bed Back in the late 70's through the early 80's I built a bunch of them I started putting them on other truck frames like this one on a Revell Pete frame And of course these two with a third to be built all will be built without the sleeper I'm gathering parts to build this So far I've moved the front axle & set the long firetruck frame up to fit a L700 cab I've got a rear suspension for it now & have acquired the cab that is dedicated to it The cab in the pics is a cab I use for mock up The frame on top is a stock long wheelbase AMT American LaFrance Aero firetruck

Bob, That is definitely, different to say the least! Impressive collection of L700's too! The fire truck frame looks as tho it works out pretty good too!
Funny with the powering that Mopar used for the L700's the 361 and the 413,....The 361, I can't say I'm impressed, as I wouldn't have thought it be strong enough to haul such a truck around, what was the weight limit for the L700? Industrial 413, WELL that engine could have been a good one, Not sure tho, I've only dealt with car 413s in the past, never a truck size, or built one from a truck, anything done to them special for the industrial use?
NICE collection! I like it, the L700 and well the rest, all look GREAT!
I too am thinking along the lines of this.....To add in something from my "Doomz Day" start with the monster truck....
