So I opened a 1970 1/2 camaro and I have never seen so much orange in my life. The rims are even orange. only thing that isn't is the glass and the tires. Not impressed amt. jaw-dropping-smiley-emoticon I am going to spend more time trimming the flashing off this then I am painting it. The body has several dibits in it ware is quality control these days

that bad huh? haven't opened mine yet. It is by far the worst I have ever seen. I will never again buy a AMT model. Two coats of primer should take care of the body, but there is still much work to do trimming and filing all the flashing off. You see stuff like this and it just boils the blood. At the price of models these days you expect a little more quality. I had a theme for this car, but I am wondering if Its gonna look good enough for it. I may just go ahead and save that theme for a 1934 Ford truck and just put the camaro together stock. We will see after I am done trimming.

Just a quick tip on models molded in colored plastics should be primered with a good primer to keep the color of the plastic from bleeding through the paint

Grr all that prep work and I finally start painting and putting it together and there is peices missing. Shame on you AMT. Just a word to the wise for primer, Do not use Krylon colorMaster white primer. It will not cover. I used a whole 12oz can on the body in one cote and the orange still showed. I went back to my trusted automotive brown primer. Hard for the paint to cover but I would rather use 2 coats of paint over a good primer then buy many cans of the expensive white Krylon just to cover the body and not enough left for the rest of the parts.

by the way the testers Contout putty works great just give it enough time to dry rey 24 min. then sand. A slightly wet finger helps to spread it right. good stuff for so cheap and a little goes a long way. $2.99 will last a long time. Tje model is done for picks see here the 701/2 z28

This thread started out with me gonna do a 1970 buick gsx in honer of the car my best friend and I were working on when he passed away. I got a little into it and the sorrow overtook me and I could not finish it. well months of looking at it in the same shape the real car was in when my friend passed just made me feel worse. So I finished it'
