my best friend and i were working on a 1970 Buick GSX that we dug out of a scrap yard. The real car was striped down to frame after we got it and we started from there. we got the new floors in and the body totally redone and primed and wire harshness back in. we were waiting on the tranny rear and engine and motor when my friend was killed in an auto accident. Three weeks later I went to get the car and his family had scraped it. I found the 70 Buick GSX model in a store on clearance. I snagged it the seconded. I saw it. soon as I learn to get pictures off my phone I will up date you all I am doing it just as we had it planed none of the factory non-sence. the pick is the engine I always seem to do them first. lol

thanks for all the help on this one guys. My son took care of it for me.he surprised me, with a set off ebay. I got one good kid there, I did find out the hard way, when I have to spray with acrylic paint go out int the garage. My boys throat swell almost totality shut we called the ambulance and they save him he was very blue by the time they got here. I now use createx paint www.createxcolors.com/ it all water based. ya it requires a little more prep work but my kid is worth it. I lay down several coats of opaque let dry about a whole 10 to 15 a minutes a layer lol and for a slight metal flake look a couple coats of wicked Perl,or several if ime not feeling right about the look. for primer i use off the shelf automotive spray can primer from my local auto parts story. I can brush with acrylic all day and it it doesn't bother him. to prime I go to the garage. gotta do it quick in Michigan winters lol. Almost every thing on the car is done but some how I lost the dash when I find the dash I can finish it. pictures coming later in the day its 4AM right now. Forgot to say create is used only for airbrushes if you use it they have several brands of createx. the one I keep finding myself going back time time and time again is there wicked brand. createx paints work great in gravity and siphon feed guns. Now my bitch about them there clear coat is not hi gloss it means another trip to the garage Any body else use createx? if chech them out is a breaze. www.createxcolors.com/ and no I dont mak any money of them just a satisfied customer.

Oh man. Glad to hear he's ok.
Safety first no matter what. I just purchased some masks for myself and anyone that steps into the garage while I'm spraying.

Glad your son is OK. Sounds like he had an allergic reaction to something in the paint. When you spray, stuff goes out into the air you can't even see, unlike when brush painting. I picked up some Createx paint but haven't used it yet. Hobby Lobby sells the Createx Airbrush and Createx Wicked colors. They also have an automotive line called Auto-Air. From what I have researched you can pretty much use any clear on the Wicked and Auto-Air, not sure about the basic Airbrush line, so I guess that's an experiment to try. I did learn that the Airbrush line needs heat to cure it, so you may need to use a dehydrator or be careful with a hair dryer. Not supposed to take much heat for very long to get it ti kick though. If anyone is interested in checking out Createx, here is their website. www.createxcolors.com/

Its great paint, I've used the auto-air and the wicked colors. They do need thinned slightly still to spray nicely. I used future floor polish to thin it the last time I sprayed it. Worked great and made it more glossy right off the bat, I mixed it almost 1:1 with slightly more paint then future, if that makes sense.

Glad to hear he is ok. I myself have to use masks when painting. I have to be very careful sanding certin puttys. I;m alergic to tolene.Ya the stuff in gasoline, its a very bad chemical! i think its because ive bathed myself in the stuff being in the auto trade. Not wearing gloves while washing trans parts in varsol and such. Hell we even sucked in the dust from brakes and clutches and that was all abestoes. They know alot more now and they look after the motor trade mechanics better now.

My heat settings were on the lowest they would go and stll ended up warping a seat first and an engine block second. After that I learned my lesson stick with what you know. As for the floor wax I dont know why but for some reason ever time I have tried it It takes the paint off. I have to do more research on that one.

I've only used a hair dryer for just a few seconds and then switch it to cool and switched back and forth a few times, or set it in front of the heat register in my hobby room. I've also read/heard that duplicolor acrylic enamel clear coat works great over the createx line of paints, but don't have first hand experience with it.

Direct heat to plastic is never a good idea. Hot water has given me the best result so far. Microwave some water. Dip the part. Adjust/bend etc then run in cold water. Repeat if necessary.
