I think I like it. Keep going in the direction your going because I think it's headed in the right direction. Maybe bring the rear down a tad? It doesn't look bad where it is now though.

Please keep an eye on this one. Just put a bunch of time into this chassis. I scratchbuilt the back section, did a modification on the rear stock springs and rear end, scrounged some tubs and fitted them to the bed. The bed was mostly cut out for the huge tubbed rear end that was in it on its last build so I added a bunch of flat styrene and all of it will be painted aluminum as will the custom tubs. I will be getting pictures and posting them and this trucks progress. Skip, im with ya on the lower stance in the back. Not alot of room but I made some. By using the stock rear springs and cutting off the rear end perches and relocating them to the underside of the springs and filing down the shackle blocks and notching the frame for the rear end tubes it should sit lower. Im putting alot of time into this mostly for sentimental reasons and also because the paint on it looked real good and this truck was one of my favorites. I do have an airbrushed LRT waiting its turn down the line for a stock build! S.C.

Here is some pictures of the restoration in progress This one shows the extensive mods to the stock chassis and what little of it is left This is the scratchbuilt chassis and the Road Runner front frame and the modified LRT parts This body seemed to nice to waste. Notice the hacked up bed for the pro mod tubs it once housed. Kind of a moot point as a cover is going to be on the bed but all this will be painted silver and installed. The tires and wheels. The Hemi is just a mock up motor. Just a ramdom photo of the grille.

We have made some progress on the chassis. Everything fit well going together as planned. In addition my crude but satisfactory repair panel project paid off on the truck bed. It is all fitted and cemented in. Some light putty on all the seams and also in the joining areas on the truck frame is all that is left before a final sanding and paint. That will be later this week. I also tossed in a picture of the other Truck with the awesome paint job that will be a later project. S.C.

This is looking good Chas nice work on this, a few years ago ( when I was not real good at modeling ) I was pro streetin a 56 ford pickup and I used a plastic lid from a can of spray paint cut it in half and it works pretty good one turned out a little wider than the only that's why I haven't finished it yet . Just a idea I thought I'd pass along to you

The truck is looking great Chas. Another thing that might work well is those energy shot bottles, I know the dollar stores usually carry off brands for around 99 cents. A rc crawler forum I'm on a guy built a 1/10 scale air compressor out of a couple bottles and it looked great. Just another idea for some tubs lol.

Thanks guys. I had used spray can caps when this truck was set up as a pro mod. I have no pictures but the truck had a nitro Hemi with a late model funny car back half with really big tires, thats why the bed is cobbled up pretty bad. I never thought of using energy drink bottles Thanks I will keep that one in my mind. If you look at the bed there is tubs in it. I carved them out of a pro street 67 Revell Chevelle and trimmed to fit. I did not go the pro street route on this build. In the get go I just relocated the springs on the stock chassis and used some cheater slicks that fit in the wells. After 'fitting' this setup I hated the hack job I did on the stock chassis. I decided to get real creative and scratch build a back half, modify the stock rear end and springs, use alot of flat styrene and make what you see here. I did a test fit with the new setup and its now much lower and much cleaner that the first try. I am having some personal issues and wont be working on it for a few days but I will post pics (new and bigger Photobucket pics) so you will be able to see without clicking on them.

This is a much closer to being done version of this rebuild. The scratchbuilt chassis is complete. I used the stock rear end, just narrowed it a little. Used the stock rear springs. Cut the rear end perches off the springs and flipped them to the underside. Filed off some of the leafs and smoothed out the springs. Used the AMT Road Runner front frame and made new spindles lowering the front. I had crummy Cragars on the first two pictures and the second two there are supertricks. These will be staying. I rounded the edges of the tires and sanded them all down to match and to make them look a little more real. I would like to get some dry transfer lettering for them (do they still make them?) I will be adding the Overhead Cam 426 Hemi and hedders. I am thinking some scratchbuilt thicker stacks. The dual carbs and air cleaners will be sticking out of the hood with no scoop. On some good advice I lowered the back of the truck down as far as I could with the frame setup. Still a ways to go but closer to being done!

Thanks guys, Dodge addicts truck looks good too. In fact the bed and the frame conversion look better than mine does. Wish I had a better model to start with but I did not want to hack up a brand new one, more like rescue an old built truck. It will be nice when its done though and I am really stoked about the way it turned out. I will get some pictures of that modified chassis and post it later.

Thanks Chas before the fire I had an original issue that I ProStreeted in the early 80's & a real one that I ProStreeted in the 90's so I have a little experience I'm fixing to do another real one next year if I get the rest of my real projects moved 650 miles home all 9 of them
I rescue them too I bought a ebay junkyard for $90 total & got enough to save 10 trucks & build my rollback with a bunch of parts leftover

actually the axle is a bit off the chassis. I would say about 1/4 of an inch maybe. I did not want to do a complete notch on the bed. just the small tubs. After all that work building the frame up I found I could do this with about 1/3 the work but it was fun making this one. And you are right. A finished model would be nice. They will all start coming together soon. Lots of drama with my mom from her near fatal accident 2 months ago and keeping all her affairs etc in order takes up lots of my time. She comes home in about a week and a half so there should be some time to thrash on some need to be finished kits. Until then its bits at a time. I have though changed focus a bit and leaning on trucks more. Want to build a 4X4 to my liking so I have to get bigger tires and another Dodge 4X4 kit but some models have to get done first. Chas.

Thanks Gard, I have really morphed into Dodge Trucks. I have lots of different builds going around in my head. There is a nice yellow 72 Dodge Stepside on Ebay right now. Last time I looked it was at $15.50 stagnant with 7 bidders in the wings waiting to do battle when the bidding runs out at 6:35 pm on Friday. I really really want this truck but this one will get very expensive before its over. In reality I only want the lettered hood as I have the grille already (thanks buddy) and I can create on of these for lots cheaper. Im going to hold in reserve the Warlock and 76 4X4 I want. Just keep hacking away on kits until these wanted kits show up at some sort of real price that deems fair for both parties. Until then I will keep plugging away at what I have. Speaking of what I have I am posting a picture of my first finished model. Too bad I did not build this one but I wanted this one to go along with the new in the box matching kit I have now. Chas.

So......Take a good look at the picture in the last post. Nice looking huh?? Keep that thought. An entertainment center end unit was where it sat on one of the shelves about 4 1/2 feet from the floor. The unit got knocked over. What I have now is a bunch of pieces. The left front spring is busted, both of the front shackles on the rear springs are busted in half, two of the shock clusters are broken also. Boy am I glad I bought this one. I just looked on ebay and I can get the entire suspension for this to repair it but im going to wait awhile and see if another one of these kits unbuilt shows up at a decent price. I cant see spending $33.00 bucks plus shipping for the springs and things. Oh well, easy come, easy go!!
(IF YOU LOOK REAL CLOSE JUST BEHIND THE TRUCK IN THE PICTURE IS THE SHELVING WHERE THIS KIT TOOK ITS ILL FATED FLIGHT)!!

really Gard. Thanks bud. I took a better look and most of the suspension is messed up. Axles and tires are good. When this thing hit the ground it just exploded. The engine poped out intact, the bed wemt one way, the rear axle with the busted springs another. Funny thing though (actually except for being really ticked off about this) was this truck did a perfect double flip on to a wooden floor and the one part that is barely held on this truck is still there. The grille!!! I am not whining as stuff happens but there is a lesson in this. No more models near the entertainment center! I will have to look at the kit I have in the box for when I build it. I noticed on this truck that the beeefy suspension and tires and there are some really skinny driveshafts. This one had them anyhow. This weekend I am picking out one of my kits to finish and I am going to start to get it done. Time to start getting these models in proper order. Too many builds going on at the same time!! Chas.

Hit old Ebay and snagged an incomplete LRE kit for pretty cheap. Alot of stuff is missing but alot is still there. I have multiple kits but wanted spare parts. Upon opening the box what I found was what I thought was going to be a crummy painted body. Instead what was in there is what is pictured here. Not the right color but one awesome paint job on this body. Now I will have to find a chassis for this one and make something nice out of it. Chas.

This truck is next on the list. Looking at the AMT Coronet Pro Street engine for this one. That overheard cam Hemi will look sweet under the hood. Two tone red/black interior and a few odds and ends. This truck will take LOTS less than that shortbed fleeside im working on now. I did put alot of time into this one before I took a long break from building. I want this one done too so it sits in limbo until that fleetside is done, then its getting t treatment!
