Thought I'd share my work in progress. Hadn't joined the club yet so I didn't take too many pictures of my work but here's what I have so far. Am waiting on two resin conversion kits to come in of the correct dual carb and air cleaners so I can get really accurate! I don't understand how AMT can release a licensed movie car kit simply using their old tooling and forgoing accuracy, I know it saves them money but come on now...

The engine build. I'll have to strip it down once I get the correct dual carb / air cleaner conversion kit in...

Started working on another Christine kit. This one is molded in red, for some reason it has tons of flashing and I'm not liking it so far, too much time spent cutting and sanding, might start another one molded in white...

This model is another one on my "To-Get" list.....Just because its a Mopar in the 50's....
Sadly though as a model, I didn't know what was offered on it as a engine type as you could have in real life in '58 got this Fury with a 318 "Poly-Head" engine, a real odd-ball looking beast, or the 350 "Golden Commando, and just for the year ended they even offered the bored out 350 as the 361, ALL had the dual plane intake and 2x4 carburetor set up. The "350" was also able to be had with a special fuel injection set up that was not reliable and was a recall and the engines to get it was re-fitted with a carburetor intake after that. This being all Mopar" B block types, and was just a year out from the Mopar "Big Blocks known as the RB block meaning "Raised Block" Which began from the 383 for one year, as most Mopar 383's are in fact B blocks, NOT RB blocks.
The intake is right, but the air cleaners are wrong as mentioned, where are you getting them from if i may ask, OR I'll simply set down and mill out a set of my own! BUT rather then add that much work, I'd rather support a small guy to buy me some time in the build!

Looking great,I built this kit a little while ago and put it in a dio, I know what you mean they put on the box that it is supposed to be Christine but it's just a reboxed Belvedere I had to remove the badging I am amazed they are allowed to get away with it under the trade description act. I did not go all the way to correcting the engine as you can't see it on mine but it's nice to see attention to detail. Great job so far.

My question is, the '58 Fury and the '58 Belvedere, don't look to be a whole bunch different at all! Chrome package on the side looks the same, Grille looks the same, so my question is (This being a Mopar, that was known to rebadge car bodies between the masses under Chrysler LLC) Id the 2 just like the '71 model year of the GTX, Satellite, and Roadrunner...ALL were the same car, just different chrome and engine packages for looks and performance. Plymouth was known for this....So I wonder, I'll be researching that a little further!!!!

The Belvedere in the Chritine box has the name Belvedere moulded on the tail fin and since christine is supposed to be a fury you have to remove the badge to correct it (actually I think Stephen King got it wrong in the book as they didn't make a 2 door fury) which is why they had to remove the Belvedere badging in the film.

Honestly, your probably right with Stephen King making the mistake, I mean think about it, the "Fury" sounds more. scary then a Belvedere, really....Never mind the 2 door factor.... So, they used that as a "scare" or creep factor upon reading the book....
But, you are right in '58 there were no 2 door Fury's EVER made...Or at least whats listed as production runs and cataloged.
Honestly, I think the '58 Dodge Coronet would have made a much meaner looking car....

Sounds like we got some eggspurts here.
This is a good thing, I also have a "Christine" I started.
Gonna be interesting to see what a "correct" car should be. Keep the updates coming on the car and the corrections.
You got a great start here TM.

Mark, I dunno 'bout "eggspurt", I'm not even close, I just study a bit as I worked on a lot of old real cars over the years...I just happen to love Mopar any of the older stuff up to about 1990 or so.....
The only ones I haven't gotten elbow deep in oil and grease is the Aussie ones.....BOY would I love to......LOL Specially that 245 or 265 Hemi straight 6 they got!

I'm new here, and just started this build, i painted the body first, i too was disappointed that there was no dual carb setup. and the Belvedere tag, but i didn't sand those off. i also have an older Belvedere kit, that i may do as a distressed version of Christine. i'll be keeping an eye on your progress.

Nice start on Christine, she's going to look great ! I heard the side trim on this kit is also the wrong angle, one should be curved and the other almost straight, tho I can't remember which is which ! The belvedere script is wrong obviously, and I believe the Chrysler 300 kit comes with correct air cleaners etc ! Did you know in Stephen Kings original book Christine was also a 4 door ? forehead-slap-smiley-emoticon
