Starting out with a sneak peek of what I'm doing for "Santa's Ride". The foundation of this build is a Monogram "Rommel's Rod". Two helper elves have been reassigned from a Monogram 1/48 scale Huey Hog helicopter.

OK guys, just so you all know I have not forgot about this build. Finally got to get back on it and have a few update pics. I am actually a little further along than theses show, but haven't caught up with my picture taking yet. The chassis is done and ready to roll. Another pic of the chassis with the interior tub sitting on it. Still have to detail the tub out. I actually have the body in final prime to be sanded and sealed for paint, but this shows the holes I filled on the rear. I got rid of the machine gun port and spare track sections that were on the rear. I started early on this and another build, but some how got behind on them. I have most of this week off though, so I'm pretty sure I'll get it finished in time.

Looking good Skip. For a second I thought you had abandoned the build. Good to see you didn't.

Another update: The body is now painted. Got most of all the other stuff painted now too. Just a few more details to paint and assemble and she's ready for final assembly. Should be done with it tomorrow and hopefully posted in the "finished" thread by tomorrow night. If not, I am confident it will be by Saturday evening. Nothing like being down the wire....as seems to be quite often with me. Anyway, here are a couple more pics.

Okee dokee, My December MOTM is now finished. Here is a sneak peek of it done. Will have finished pics posted in the finished section late tomorrow afternoon. It's late and I have the pics taken, but still have to sort through them. Will have to do them when I get home from doing the farmer's market tomorrow. Blah, blah, blah blah. So anyway, here it is.

Skip, what an imaginative build! The pine tree flags atop the front wheel wells are a scream! The setup with the elves driving, and Santa with his own jolly compartment is just great. Can you tell us what kits you bashed together to make this joyride such a unique vehicle? It almost looks like a snowmobile kit or a partial tank kit. Just curious how you put this together. This one is a real show stopper!

Thanks guys. schwack: beast hit it on the head. It is mostly just a Monogram "Rommel's Rod" Mercedes halftrack. I removed the machine gun port and spare track sections from the rear, filled the holes, and added tail lights. I left the shovel off the drivers door and filled those holes. Removed the machine gun mount from the front windshield. The head lights are supposed to have blackout covers with a maltese cross, but I replaced them with 12mm rhinestones. The paint is Duplicolor Perfect Match Chrysler "Inferno Red Metallic". I also painted the track bogeys, front wheels, and some of the other pieces with Krylon Premium "Original Chrome" spray paint over a satin black base coat.
