I use a small drill bit that I twist in between my fingers and drill out the plug holes on the valve covers !

Cool thanks for the help guys. Will have to try and track down a small enough drill bit next weekend.

hobby lobby sells a testors 'pin vise' drill, comes with 5 bits, retail is about $15, but with a 40% coupon, it's pretty cheap.

Same here, just purchased and used a pin vise for the first time to wire an engine for a Vette I'm building. Its incredibly easy to use and gets right through the plastic. I overcomplicated this thinking it would be harder than it seems. A pin vise has been a terrific investment.

It may be too late, but I got a twist drill set from NAPA that has 12 bits (granted the 3 largest aren't of much use) and the pin vise handle for $10. The bits all store in the handle so it is easy to keep track of them.

I have a couple of pin vises but believe it or not, my favorite to use is my full size Black n Decker wireless drill. It has a flat bottom so I just set it on the table and bring the part close to it. It easy to control the speed on it too. Small bits fit right into it so I love it.
