Hi all,
Do you sand between mist coats? If so, what grit? Then as I apply color coats, do you then sand again when dry? And also what grit to start and which to progress to?
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks!

Any information would be helpful. Thanks! No need to sand a mist coat unless its really thick or your spray nozzle is spitting if that happens then yes lightly sand with wet 1000 grit. From what i understand A mist coats helps the color paint bond to the primer or sealer. this will help prevent the paint from chipping. at this time its a good idea to recheck any body work or mold lines to make sure the body is smooth. Because the mist coat will make any imperfection in the body noticeable. this is how i paint and im very happy with the results. other builders mite have a better way and i would like to hear how others paint. Once my mist coat is dry. I check the body for over spray dust , I will then rewash the body with soap and water. (I use Dawn dish soap) and dry with a lint free paper towels. I Paint 1 or 2 wet coats let the paint dry then sand with 1000 grit sand paper to get rid of any orange peel (bumpy Paint) then rewash with soap and water. paint 1 or 2 more wet coats let dry wet sand again wash and dry. then start shooting clear coats. I know this is a lot of work but i like how the paint looks after its done. I hope this helps. if you need anymore help please let me or any others know. this paint is just Testors Enamel spray can.
