I can’t remember the last time I started an aircraft model. Sheesh! What’s it been now…five years?? Just haven’t felt comfortable with my painting and weathering skills until the finish up of my Ar 234 last year. Additionally, automotive modeling has given me a new spin on airbrushing. Well…I guess it’s about time to bust out with one huh? I've got this build going on elsewhere but I'll start a thread here to hit the highlights along the way to where I'm at currently. The kit and all the goodies...

After a TON of bodywork on the bottom of the fuselage I finally got it all black based: Got the gray warble pattern applied .... Bottom got coated with a light coat of RLM 76 light blue.... and darkened all of the panel lines. Now.....we're ready to apply the topside colors....

Looking good. I've got a 1/72 one in the works, not sure of manufacturer. Might do it as a US captured bird.

I took a big break from aircraft because I didn't like my painting or weathering methods. I'm now feeling alot more comfortable in my own skin these days and may pop out another one soon after a couple of auto builds. I'd really like to build a Mistel....which I have in the stash btw....

This was the beginning stages of applying the RLM 74 gray to the top side. Masking off for this splinter camouflage proved to be more difficult than I remembered BUT....once I had a method I just ran with it. This is the scheme I'm shooting for here: Franz Stigler's 262 from JV44 in the spring of 1945 Top side camo coming more together and tried my hand at the first attempt on the side mottling on this bird....... But didn't care for it much because the mottle pattern started too low on the sides so I re-applied the RLM 76 and mottled again....there....that's more like it....

This will most likely be my last update till she's finished which aint all that far away. Still got the canopy to paint and install, gun bay panels to open up, aerial antennae and last little details to install. She's now on her feet.

Awesome technique man, love the paint job scheme Thanks Marcos! And it's great seeing you around here again buddy. I took a break from building aircraft for around 8 years (save for finishing my half my half started Arado 234 up a couple of years back) because I felt that I needed to work on my military paint finishes and techniques. Looking forward to seeing that Camaro of yours in here brother.

Thanks Lee!! I've gotta say that this is one good kit. Goes together very easily and although I stepped it up with an Aires cockpit and landing gear bay detail set , it's got plenty of detail just OOB.
