Good morning everyone! I recently bought a model that I would like to change a few things on. One of which was I wanted to take the 1970s chevy small block out and put in a big block and blower sticking out the hood. I haven't done much in terms of scratch building or swapping this out for that (unless it was an option in a kit). For the most part I build out of the box it came in. This one I have a few ideas for but the engine I wanted to use is in a different scale than the car I want to put it in. Will that be much of an issue?

1/24 is only slightly larger than 1/25 so depending on what you want to swap around will determine how difficult it may be. The larger the part the bigger the difference in size will be noticed. For smaller parts it may not be very easily noticed. A 15 inch wheel in 1/24 could be used to be a 16 inch wheel in 1/25. A 6 foot tall person in 1/24 will appear to be about 6 foot 3 to 4 inches tall in 1/25. I like to use metric for measuring in 1/25 scale because 1mm is equal to 1" so 12 inches would be 12mm. In 1/24 scale 12 inches would be around 13mm or maybe just slightly less. As far as swapping engines, if the parts are true to scale, the 1/25 engine will be slightly smaller than the 1/24 scale counter part.
Hope this helps. Skip

I use the 1mm = 1" also. I use it for both scales. 1/24 is 0.0016" inch larger. Usually close enough. Like Skip says, most of the time you can't tell the swapped parts. Sometimes the parts in a kit aren't quite accurate in scale anyway. Ever build a kit where the engine seemed a little small? If you want the engine to look like a beast, put a 1/24 engine in a 1/25 body.

I'll double check the scales of the 2 kits but that is exactly what I am going for wisonm. I want the motor to look larger like I had to stretch out the engine bay to fit this in there. I appreciate the input fellas, I'll get to work!
