I was looking at an old 49 merc body I had with no other parts. I dug through my junkpile and found an 80 z28 that had gotten stepped on breaking both windshield pillars, that I always thought i would try to fix but didnt. So i decided to try to mate everything but the body to the merc. She is a VERY rough project so far....but I really dig it. I had to widen the frame quite a bit....and make new interior mounts. Made a straight axle to make the wheelbase work....widened the wheel openings on the body. I used the leftover bumpers from another revell merc kit i built. I need to redo the firewall to frame tubing as i got them too hot and they have bad bends in them. but for the time I have invested....I dig it. Ill make her look better after I get everything fitting proper. I sprayed the body testors lime gold metallic.

Nah she came chopped....I was just trying to make some junk lying around into something different. I see very few merc gassers, as its such a heavy car, but love them to death...and its hard to find new ideas of what to do with them. I built that old z28 in my teens, which is now 20 years ago....so I hated to just junk it out. Maybe sentimental value.I need to recoat the paint [among many other things to make it truly presentable]. You can see on the lower passenger side where my airbrush started sucking air. Like always....so close....but so far.

Thanks Ice and Wark....like I said its still really rough...but believe it or not from what you see.....I have more time in this one to look rough than most of the ones im proud of the finished product. So much had to be scratch built to get it even close to believable. That being said...now im on a mission to make it as cool as I can.

I like this. Making something out of what could be considered junk to some. I love the Merc gasser idea. Can't wait to see some more updates.
