This is a great, friendly site and I've made many good contacts and most importantly fellowship over a common hobby. What would benefit here would be more than just the average q&a or help area, where the same questions are asked over and over by people (like me). It would be great to have a read only section of pinned threads or posts from the more experienced folks here containing step by step instructions for say, a paint job using a spray system from start to finish for a styrene body, one for resin; the same for rattle cans. Something for engine detailing - perhaps budget minded by using arts & crafts shop products vs. something specifically for those who can afford 1:1 type fittings and various fuel lines and resin components.
This type assistance would be incredibly helpful. You could include problems to look for or prepare for like orange peel, fisheyes and resolutions from simple (sanding and touch-up spraying) to complete stripping and various products. Instead of MOTM, you could ask for TOTM (tip of the month) or something like that. I don't know what incentive you might offer to people who are already busy with jobs, families and their own builds, but these are the folks who'd be best qualified for putting a write-up together with some pictures of bad vs. good results. Anyway, that's my .02. And as an amatuer who'se 2nd build went through 3 bodies (despite stripping and trying to re-use them), nothing's more discouraging than picking up 75% of the basics and some detailing success only to stall for a month on a build because you can't finish the paint!
Thanks for listening.
