Hey gang. I've been working on the Carl Casper Undertaker Dragster. Been a pain in the neck too. From mislabeled parts to the tiny pieces, it's been a headache. The latest issue I've had is the parts don't want to hold together with Testors red label cement. I think the issue could be the chrome plating, this particular kit has almost everything chrome plated. I know oven cleaner can strip the plating, but is there something I can do to replace the chrome once everything is cemented together?

You could strip it and use Alclad chrome,it comes in a bottle for airbrushing or you can also get it in a spray can. you could also go on utube there is a lot of videos on how to use this stuff.

Can you just scrape the chrome off only where it needs to be glued?

Can you just scrape the chrome off only where it needs to be glued? I tried doing scraping the chrome plating off but even that isn't holding together well. What type of cement do you guys use? I have only ever used the Testor's blue or red label. I don't even know what the difference between the two is.

Haven't used tube glue in decades. Isn't the red stuff real stringy? I use liquid glues, I've been refilling an old Ambroid Pro Weld bottle with MEK, methyl ethyl ketone. If you don't have an empty liquid glue bottle, use an empty finger nail polish bottle so you can use the applicator brush. A one quart can has lasted for years. Buy at Menards, Ace, Home Depot, and etc. Caution. The fumes are dangerous, but aren't they all?

This is one of the glues that I use,it has a needle applicator for gluing small parts I bought it from ebay for around 8.50 shipped, its a little pricey but it works very well.

I like the idea of the needle applicator. I haven't had much trouble gluing chrome parts ever but this one really doesn't want to stick together.

Flash,I built the same model with this glue with no trouble. the only thing that I did was scraped the chrome off where I was going to glue it and it worked just fine.
