Thanks fellas for the good word. The longer I look at that carburetor shaft location the more I don't like it. I may sand some off of the bottom of the carb so that the throttle linkage isn't in the middle of it. Throttle linkage is supposed to be near the base so I'll take care of that discrepancy tomorrow.

Thanks John. 'Preciate it.
I managed to get some progress on the engine this morning. First off I shaved some off of the base of the carburetor so it wouldn't look like a big box with a throttle lever sticking out of the middle of it. Then I got the plug wires all routed and in place and I managed to clip out a 1:1 scale turn signal bulb filament for the throttle return spring (which is seen in the foreground).

Great looling engine mate. Thanks Ken, Al and Dave. I've done some more work to but have been working on my 1:1 scale 383 SBC for my 1994 Chevy Silverado for the last few weeks and now I've got the dang flu. Go figure. Will post pics within the next day or so......

Hope you get over it soon mate, flu ain't nice. Thanks Ken. Man I feel 100% better as of late. I still aint out of the woods yet but I can tell you that I'm through the worst of it.
Ok guys, I've managed some progress over the last couple of days. It's slow but it's movin'. I got the generator adjustment bar installed from the water pump out to the generator and I've also got the throttle return spring and wire mount for it installed on the intake. More coming in the next few days.................................

Thanks Ken! I'm almost there folks. I added the throttle linkage, the carburetor choke temperature sensing tube/ line on the R/H side of the engine and the fuel line. Here I have the air cleaner resting on top of the carburetor but may raise it just a hair before adhering into place. It just looks a little too low to me. I've still got to clean up the cooling fan, paint it and install, and I'll be installing a PE bolt head on the alternator adjustment bracket at the coolant pump but I think we're about done with this thing hopefully by this weekend. I may try to highlight the transmission shift linkage a little to as to bring out the detail back there. Stay tuned..............................

Folks I have pondered over this one for a couple of days now. I have the OOB fan which to me looks hideous on this motor. I've got another one in my stash I can use but wanted to see if you guys wanted me to use it. To be fair, I've cleaned up both pieces from all flash. I still need to strip the chrome off of the potential replacement fan but these are the parts. It's a smidgen larger in diameter than the OOB part and I'm wondering if it'll be too large the OOB fan shroud. Let me know and I'll proceed:
I've got the battery cleaned up and will be pulling some of my own tricks in which to spruce this thing up a bit. Stay tuned

I like the fan you found in your stash Joe,but I would send both to GB just in case it doesn't fit.

Any updates on the engine Joe? Yes siree!! I managed to get this puppy all but wrapped up this morning. I still have to finish the battery and paint the radiator hoses but other'nat I'm pretty much done. The longer I looked at the cooling fan with the clutch, the more I didn't want to use it. I mean it looked cool and all but it just didn't "fit" with the engine of the time. I did a lot more digging around in my stash and came up with a suitable and more realistic looking part than the OOB fan supplied with this kit. N E wayz............... Here you go............
The plans for the battery are to sand off and drill out the positive and negative battery terminals, drill holes in their place and use the squared off ends of the resistor solder inserted through from the bottom
The OOB battery:
The transformation under way. More coming.................stay tuned.

Thanks Dave, Mike and Ken. I use the "Macro" setting on my camera a lot in looking for errors/ oversights and when looking back over my photos I found a couple of boo boos. In this first picture I missed a spot in coloring the rear of the intake manifold. (even though this intake is mis-sized for the engine) in the area indicated by the red pointer: and at the front of the intake as well. Next time I build this engine(and there will be a next time) I'll be applying GMS sealer at the front and rear of the intake just like I do in real life so as to avoid the gaps at the front and rear of the intake manifold "china wall" areas. It's just too much work to go back and correct on this one here. Overall I had a pleasant experience with this engine build with the exception of the lost rocker cover decal at the first of the build. Thanks be to Dave (GPB) for affording me this opportunity to be in on this build and to Mike for shooting me those Carter AFB carburetors so I could replace the "box" looking carb on this engine. That had to be the sorriest example of a carburetor from a model kit that I think I've ever seen! The engine is now finished and on it's way to Dave in the mail as of 30 minutes ago. I'll shoot you a PM in a bit Dave. The now finished pictures: The finished battery after removing the molded in posts and inserting replacement ones: and the cables with cable ends. Dave , you'll wanna form both cables to how you want them and then shoot a coat of acrylic flat over the black ground cable. As for that anodized red positive cable, form it and then apply a coat of future over the entire cable. Then you'll be able to shoot a light coat of flat red on it and seal it with a light flat coat to make it look more like a cable than an anodized piece of red wire. lol Through out this build I found myself wishing that I could build this entire kit as I like the looks of this car...........................sooooooooooooooooo...............I went out and bought one!!!! Dunno when I'm going to build it but it'll get done sooner or later.
