Here is your winner ! Great build AK Jerrys Cherrys will be sending you out a gift card !!
Here's my 53 Ford ratrod pickup that's based on AMT's 53 flipnose pickup. The frame of this kit already has a Z'ed section in the front, but I had to Z the rear section to get the ride height I wanted. Once the cab was positioned on the frame I moved the front suspension as far forward as the leaf springs would allow and mounted the rear axle and suspension. Then I searched the parts bid for a suitable engine. I knew I wanted to cut the headers off a junk beer wagon kit to use on this build and the Boss 429 had just the right angle for the headers to mate up to as well as the correct spacing for the exhaust ports. The engine was detailed with plug wires, fuel line and throttle cable complete with brackets and return spring. The interior features a handmade mexican blanket for seat uphoistry and tin signs as door panels then to top it off the head of a ball peen hammer was used as a shicter knob. Moving on to the back, the bed was shortened and narrowed then the floor was scratch built from wooden coffee stir sticks then stained. The tail lights are a combination of a 57 Chevy grille bar and the license plate surround from a custom 40 Ford bumper. Last is the custom radiator surround which is the custom front end of an old 57 Chevy which was turned upside down and narrowed. Then the grille was narrowed to fit and the front bumper cut down to match the rest of the narrowed parts. The rusty "patina" finish was done by painting the body flat black then some turquise added in various places and a numerous washes with acrylic paints. Here are my required 8 (hopefully in the right order!) Enjoy!
