Just sitting here, kicked back and watching a VHS of the mid 90's days of drag racing when I could afford cable. I LOVE IT!!! What I don't like is the reason why - I dropped a porcelein coffee cup yesterday morning on the counter and it put a nice deep gash in between my 1st/2nd fingers down near the flesh of the palm. I'm NOT spending the any majority of time during this weekend stuck in E.R. waiting for some stitches. So, as long as I have a good supply of medical supplies, a wife who knows nursing and good collection of vintage racing tapes, I'll survive. I'm checking out 1994 at the Carquest Parts Seattle Nationals race where they dropped the nitro percent to 85% and it's playing havoc on performance. Eric Medlen was still alive and racing at this point and good 'ol Johnny Force and Gary Medlen were 1 and 2 half way through quals. It's not building models, but it'll have to do. I do have a BIG surprise coming up with the latest iteration of the Nova, so once I've gotten it driven into my thick skull and I'll healed, I'll start on "Franken-furter"

Worse than that, I have to retype so many mistakes when I used to type at 80 words per min. And I'm a righted handed guitar player too. I like to sit and jam to Pink Floyd when I'm bored and that's out the window too.

Sucks when you have a hand wound that interferes with needing to work with your hands. I never go to the emergency room or to a doctor unless there is a total amputation involved. Just keep it clean and closed up, it will grow back. So you like to jam to Pink Floyd, but do you play Floyd in a mariachi band? laughingsquid.com/mariachi-band-covering-the-wall-by-pink-floyd/

Oh No! Blasphemy! The only worse thing I could imagine would be Dolly Parton or an Oktoberfest version! My left hand hasn't been a good luck charm over the years - I had the tip of my middle finger cut off in a printing press in my 20's, but it was sewn back on. I've managed to keep a callous on the tip of that finger, although my lead was affected like when Jerry Garcia of the Dead lost his middle finger. I took advice from an interview with David Gilmour: "I can't play fast, so I play slowly and melodically".

NO WAY! You mean those machines that they use to cut paper too? Those things put out thousands of lbs. of force at least. That must have hurt like a momma! Did you get dragged into it as a witness or anything? Man, fergit wksman's comp, he'll never have the same functional use of the hand, even if they could re-attach every nerve!
I was already working from home, dialing in through a secured network twice a week. I dutifully carried a pager; in fact my family had their Thanksgiving holiday ruined because I paged on time at 7 a.m. Then I ruined someone else's because I couldn't get wi-fi service at the campground I was at! After all that when I developed degenerative disc disease I begged to continue to work from home and come in a day a week for meetings, etc. Yet they turned me down; in fact, they took away both the dial-in days I had earned as a bonus for exemplary work and demanded I come in full time. By then, I was on opiates from dawn 'til dusk and couldn't drive under that condition anyway.
That really burns me that I lost my job, insurance for me and my family and barely got enough long term disability through payments I'd made to my company to live just above welfare level after climbing the ladder for 25 years with no degree up to nearly $100k a year! And this guy hacks his finger off for grins to get a free ride?
Grrrrr....

I thought they had safety locks on those like you had to have two objects or switches held down, one by each hand. I know that kinda sounds hard to use but the ones I've seen you'd position the paper (or steel in this case), grab onto the safety switches and step on a bar lever that actuated the device. Crazy is right...

Old school baby. I axed my finger tip in the 80's in a printing press. Didn't feel a thing at first 'til a co-worker picked up the finger tip and stuck it on ice and got me going to the hospital. I about passed out.
