Hey gang want to keep everyone in the loop and get some feed back from you. I will be working all December to try and get ready for next year. boy I could use some help!
I plan on cleaning up the site and removing any member that has not commented or posted in 60 days. I will also be removing some of the threads that are building up. I was thinking the gallery and the random topics, any thoughts are appreciated?
Also , just pointing out I will be revising the rules for the contests for 2017 and I want to point out that when I post the cars it's still random but when I post your pictures I am posting the first five so make sure the required shots are in your first five pics.
I'm sure some noticed no cruise last week. I'm sorry but I was swamped ! That said if anyone would like to join me as admin or simply take over the cruise to Mel's message me
I am still trying to figure out how we can still provide prizes for the contests , any thoughts ?
Also I was thinking maybe have two MOTM at a time every two months. Both January and February would be due on Feb 1st , two separate contests, each a prizes but it gives everyone two months to build !? Thoughts ?
Ok I have a lot more coming up so hang in there ! after the bracket race is done we will start the MOTY and Bracket Racer Of The Year !!

Just a thought on the MOTM. It would be nice if you didnt have to have work in progress pics. I don't track that many of my builds, and very rarely, even if I do, can I complete a model in a month. I'm lucky to get 2-3 hours a week to model, so there's just not much time.

I hear yea Prower, that's why I was thinking of extending it to two month builds. The in process pictures are need to prove that 1. You built it 2. It is a "new" build and 3. To show people how you did something or how much work it took to do something

Im not sure I understand the 2 motm contest plan. Are you saying that motm will will only have 6 deadlines?
Feb 1-jan and feb due;
Apr 1-mar and apr due;
Jun 1-may and jun due etc.
If this is what you meant it may start getting a little confusing...
Or do you mean the schedule will look like this:
Jan MOTM post pics now through last day of Jan Deadline Feb 1
Feb MOTM post pics now thtough last day of Jan Deadline Feb 1
Mar MOTM post pics Jan1 through last day of Feb Deadline Mar 1
Apr MOTM post pics Feb1 through last day of Mar Deadline Apr 1
May MOTM post pics Mar1 through last day of Apr Deadline May 1
etc...
Either way would allow members to post pictures for 2 months instead of just one, which may help to motivate some to get started a little earlier.
Personally, I start a lot of my MOTM builds early anyway just to be sure I'm not going to be in a crunch at the deadline so it's only a matter of when I can start posting for me.

Me too AK , I have started all my MOTMs for 2017 and while one dries I work on another.
I was thinking now till end of January for January and February MOTM
February 1 til end of March for March and April MOTM
April 1 til end of May for May and June MOTM
does that make sense ? and its just an idea .

Yea that should work. Are we still doing the 5 required pics? It seems like I remember some talk of adding extra required pics and requiring them to be in the correct order...

I like the idea of 2 months for a MOTM build - shoot, I barely make that!! LOL
A few more pictures would be nice, but to require them may be asking too much of some.
Maybe if everyone was encouraged to show "extra" pics - as most do - that in itself will help to show their work for voting.

My two cents I like the idea of two months but I think having two due at same time will get things messed up ?
I think what you should do is
1 Jan due by March 1
2 Feb due by apr 1
3 March due by may 1
Etc etc etc.
I know the other way would be easyer on beast. I think we need some adm. For each section 1 mom. 1 mels 1 for board control. 1 questions. I know beast could use some help work and trying to deal with cry baby's there is a lot of work involved and I my self could see him getting overwelmed before things happened.
I know just going public with my resin and having a resin forum is a lot of work and being retired ( yes tired yesterday and tired today = retired ) is hard to keep up and makes me a lurker because I don't have time to post and live on the forum. And we need people to volunteer to help beast. I do know judging two at a time would be to confusing for most and see many problems myself that's just me and my two cents. Thanks

Don't like the two concurrent build idea. As others have said, if you need more time, start earlier and don't post your pixs until it's time.
I also don't agree with removing members after only 60 days of inactivity. Seems too short. Don't their posts and replies have any meaning after a year? Threads will become incoherent and important info or tutes could be lost.
If the galleries are for inspiration, what is the point of removing them?

Ok , remember this is just discussion nothing in stone. I too would like to see it stay the same ( 12 contests 12 months ) like I said I have already started on all my 2017 MOTM builds even November. Just take your pictures and hold them till it's time to post them.
As for removing members , currently we have 800 members , we all know they don't all participate. All I plan to do is remove them , not their post. I often go back and read old posts.
Here on free forums we get so much free space but when that is full they start charging. I don't want this to be a club we're you have to pay yearly dues. We have three threads that take up more space then the rest , they are the members gallery , acqusions and random topics.

Hay beast why don't you set up some voting on what we want and what we don't
And kill off some of the Meg burners. It can be nice seeing some stories about things we did this summer but it is a modeling forum. And any other ideas you might have get them to vote on it. I know you have turned on some new keys in the last few months. don't some of them take a lot of megs .... just trying to help some

voting may be a good idea. I know that I don't usually read the aquisitions section. It may be pretty cool to see what kits just came out or to show case a new aftermarket product but to see what everyone just picked up off ebay seems like a hugh waste of space.

Ok gang im being given some great ideas. I have the brain in gear and I will be getting stuff out shortly. I will be setting up the Model of the Year contest and the Bracket Racer of the Year contest ( Thou some have left I will be including all the past winners, good luck to everyone )
I need to figure out how to change the header and i will get the new winners up there. Also I will update our facebook page.
I will be presenting some ideas and attaching a poll, ask questions if you are not sure but then vote for the idea you like best.

i want to wish everyone at jc's a merry christmas . I think any changes that will improve being able for more members to enter the contests and become more involved is good, i know with me by the time i pick the model i want to do i get started and its voting time, i was having problems with my folki account since they started charging and couldn't post but think i have that worked out now so looking foward to post more picks now! these changes sounds good to me gb whatever you decide will be fine with me .

Hay GB I found on my forum how to change the pictures it takes a few steps. I think I will have time tomorrow I'll have to do it on my tablet at the same time message you the steps from my phone. Then you will also be able to go back and look at what you need to do. I have not figured out how to do the dual pictures there is some new key you can download that looks like it will do it . I downloaded it but haven't had time to play with it. I used to do this stuff alot but it's been awhile so I'm very rusty so if can get time I'll play with the key it looks like it is easy to use hope this will help at least to can change one picture to keep the site looking fresh.also how many prizes to you give away each month I just started a new resin company if I get caught up I'll try and send you something to help out some
I kinda feel bad when ice started his I sent two that I had laying around to get some advertising from if I had known he had all the prizes I would have sent them to you. I'll see what I can do right now we are behind. I'm building a bunch of new molds so when things are ready I'll try and get a couple to you .. Thanks Rocky aka excrewchief

About 2 inches down visual editor
Then header ( top )when you touch it stuff should pop up below it
See banner image
Look tell you see banner image
You can add it there
Other tabs height changes size
