I'll go ahead and throw my hat in the ring with this build. It was only supposed to be a simple touch up that was initially gonna take a week or so to complete but ended up taking me four months to complete. The quick story . I built it when I was 14 for my brother. I joined the Army at 19 years old and left home. I picked the car up from my parents house in 2003 (16 or so years later) and cleaned it up and gave it to back to my brother in 2009. It stayed there a year and was accidentally dropped and left on a bed head board where I spotted in and rescued it again. It was missing a wheel/tire, the hood and the rear spoiler. My brother and I found the wheel/tire and the hood without the air intake / air grabber. I cleaned it up and put it back on the shelf where it stayed until November of 2014 when I had some "spare bench time" between aircraft builds. I had bought a spare kit in which to replace the hood and rear spoiler with and that was all it was going to be was a parts replacement and that's it. Well 4 months later and 3 kits later I reformed this thing from what it was to what it is here. The body and interior are all original save for the shifter lever. Everything else was scrapped and started over with. Several upgrades were made in regards to things like wheels and tires which just couldn't go the 32 year distance and the base chassis. The paint is........well..........there aint any. That's the body molded color that was cleaned up, wet sanded smooth and then a rattle can Model Master Ultra Gloss Coat applied. She now sits proudly re-newed on the shelf once again.
Before:
and.........after:
The dash/ instrument panel was totally redone using all original parts and the rest of the interior was freshened up with only the shifter being replaced.

Freakin OUTSTANDING man!!!
I totally love this build. I am definitely gonna have to give the old, it's molded, leave it alone and clear it, a try. Definitely looks awesome!
And all the touches, the small details, are simply amazing - terrific job saving this bud!!!

That is one super clean build mate, lots of great detailing in the engine bay,and the result of no paint... outstanding finish. smileyCA9464IN_zpsd9ee499f

Thanks a lot fellas! I can't begin to tell you how much fun I had with this build. It was my first "all out" attempt to break the ice on the fear barrier to automotive building in regards to that "perfect gloss finish". Up until that point I built WWII aircraft (and still do squeak one in there from time to time) but ever since this car I've strived to become increasingly better at the most fun part of model building......automotive subjects. There just seems to be no limits with the imagination when it comes to this genre of modeling.

You've done an outstanding job on this! It's good to save a vintage build when you can. You'll see it on the shelf and can reflect.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it. What's funny is I didn't know at age 14/15 that this car would go on to win 1st in its category and a "Best Auto of Show" award some 30 years later. It took me TOTALLY by surprise as this was my first auto build in decades.
