Since the skyline and 50 truck are so far along I thought I might have time to get in on this months bracket too. This will just be a curbside as the kit isn't the most detailed underneath. I have wheels chosen for it which are getting a bit of detailing done to look like BRM rims from the early 70's. I've also made a start on the paint, and started with the roof. I'm thinking either grey primer or gold for the body. All painted with spray cans.

Very cool Les, that roof is awesome man - what did you use for a template? It's just a bit of lacey ribbon over lots of red and gold paint done deliberately patchy to give a different effect under the lace and a black fogging on the edges

Decided to go with the gold and the finished wheels Going to let the body sit for a few days before clearing and polishing

A little more done and I think I will just lower this as much as the stock chassis will take so it's not going to be slammed to the floor but more of a clean garage parts runner. Pretty sure I have some decals for a custom shop in one of my unopened kits. It might not even be as low as the pic.

Yep, it sure looks cool! If you could get it that low, you would make the slammer downer, from down under extremely happy! LOL

So I had a small problem with my wheels on this. Turns out they weren't going to fit because of how the backs were, so I've drilled out the centres to give me another few mm's to pull them in a little more. Going to see if I have some better tyres for it too since these don't have enough sidewall for the look I want. Only one left to do now though and fitting should be ok as I have a set of hasegawa mounts left from the resin wheels I used on the skyline

Sat down last night to get the interior of this started and was pretty disappointed as there isn't a proper interior, just a dash steering wheel and seat but at least when I do my pick up version I have a scrap imai beetle door panels to use. On this one I think I'll just flock the inside of the doors

Some felt might give you a bit more depth maybe mate. Bulk it up a bit so it looks like there is something there.

Nice looking build mate, the gold colour sets it off. I had the same problem with the interior on my 21 window bus, I used flock wallpaper, got a few samples from B & Q.

While waiting for some paint to dry on the skyline and truck I got the foil done on this. I wish I had scribed the window edges before I painted as some of them were kinda faint and I left the top edge of the front window as I just couldn't get it worked into place due to the angle of the roof edge, but the vw badge was probably the easiest bit to do. I also found a ribbed bumper that might work on the front but means having to search for the other one to see if it will fit the back or else I'm going to use the chrome towel rail bumpers. Luckily for me though I have loads of different van bumpers to choose from (I've been hoarding vw parts lots, lol)
