Well, I always wanted a purple and black hemi Cuda for the built shelves, so here she is.....
Paint was Krylon Rich Plum with a coating of Dupli-Color Color Effex, and then a final shot of Krylon ColorMaster Clear, after the decals were applied. Believe it or not, the decals tore on me on one side, but I was able to save it with a little additional black decal touch ups Pretty much box stock, this older kit did not have a ton of detailing, chassis was all molded as one with the exhaust, etc. But I painted what I could to give some realism to the underside. I used some after market tires, preprinted, to again give that realism look. I also wired the engine with a pre-wired distributor.
But for me, the biggest addition......... a HUGE shout out to GrandpaBeast for the cool, special rims. These rims are the famous, re-called Kelsey-Hayes W23 rims. In 1969, these rims were destined for cars from dealerships, just days before they were to be released, Chrysler sent out a memo telling the dealerships to remove these rims due to a safety defect. It was determined the lug nuts would work loose, thus causing cracked rims, etc. Not to mention the huge safety hazard. I have included a link telling the story of these famous, recalled rims

And now, onto the final pics.....

Super nice! those rims are spot-on. How did you do your exhaust? That's real-looking for sure.

Thanks dt69 - I do appreciate that. When GB sent me those rims, I wanted to make sure I got those suckers right! The exhaust, it was one of those kits where it is already molded into the chassis, so I just hand painted it. Used some flat steel, silver, chrome silver, and the headers I used a magnesium paint. Then covered most all of it with Tamiya smoke.

That is one SWEET Cuda mate, very nicely done, and i love that color on it too. Some cool detailing inside and out, the undies look great, but ease up on the oily look, its a Mopar not a Ford.. hand-clapping-smiley-emoticon

I thought that is what happens when you run over a Ford for being in the way?

Outstanding build Tom!! Great detail work and a gorgeous engine. I love that Tamiya Smoke. I like to use it on chrome. Gives it a nice metal look and takes the toy chrome look away.
