Gonna jump in this for Frank. Frank was an awesome guy. I traded many emails with him, and just from knowing him through here, he seems like a real, down to earth, genuine nice guy. two-thumbs-up-smiley-emoticon So for Frank - I will do this monster truck for him. He loved his monster trucks, for sure. This will be my first monster truck build, so I hope I can do it right for Frank! I have a special paint scheme in mind. Let's just say, I will be making some decals for this one!!

Still fuddling around trying to make some decals. I did re-tape the green stripe and added a coat of primer. This I will sand down and then start on the white

Got the satin white laid, revealing the main, large green stripe. Gonna be adding some more stripes I think, red, black, yadda-yadda-yadda

I sure am trying Mike. I have the engine started, and am still working on the darn decals, but I am making a little progress. I am going to try out this Testors Trim Tape for my stripes, and also am using the chrome finger nail striping tape.

Thanks Mike, Les and Dale. Wanting to stay on this to get it completed on time, I was up late last night. Just could not sleep, I never do around 9/11. Anyways, grill and around the headlights has been blacked out, and paint is pretty much done. Even did the stripes through the bed - figured, hey, it's a monster truck! Now to get the decals done so I can finish the touch up and final clear coats to polish her good. I may BMF the side trim - still debating that though. Thinking to do a tan flocking for the headliner and carpet, and a root beer color for the seats and dash, Hmmmmm.....

Thanks Mike - not totally happy with it myself, but I still have touch ups to go, so hoping it looks a little better when she is done. Thinking to throw in something in the bed, like a tool box or cooler, something.... thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon

Thanks guys!! I do appreciate it. Hoping to get on this again tonight after work. Been busy the last few days. Monday and Tuesday I pulled a pair of 12 hour days Had the Steelers game Monday night, then volleyball last night. I am already running ragged.... And we are pretty much lined up for baseball Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon if needed. smileyCAELY0UD_zps3cc8a166
phew-smiley-emoticon Soooooooooooooo............... I need to get as much done as I can tonight and Thursday night. I am thinking I do not like the stripes on the floor of the bed. Just doesn't look right to me. Plus, they lifted a bit, so I will probably redo this and tape off the inner bed and spray it black to represent a bed liner. Engine is started, should have it done this weekend, then we will get to slapping this monster together, quickly, I hope!!

All kinds of things happening.... Painted the floor of the bed and the engine bay a satin-ish black. Engine is coming together, interior painted, am thinking some golden tan flocking may look good on the darker brown. Rims going together, need to add some decals to these. Chassis started, all parts painted, assembly has begun. Going to pick up a new printer today, so I can hopefully get the decals done this week. The old printer just gives me too many fits anymore. But I need to get the custom decals I am making for this done soon. I did get the gold / tan flocking mix on the interior. All that's left here is the gear shift

Looks good mate, have you done something else to the paint? it looks brighter than it did. I have to ask though, where do you find tubs of flocking that size? I can only find the little tubs that barely do 2 floors

Nope - have not polished the paint yet - I bet it is because I changed out the light bulb above the desk.
The flocking, man I have had those suckers for years. I want to say I would probably have got these either at a craft store locally, or maybe evil bay. But for some reason I want to say it was in a sewing / crafts store. I can tell ya, the sewing stores may be full of old ladies, but dude - they have some of the coolest crafting supplies!

Thanks John - I do appreciate that my friend. I have gotten a little further, just gotta take some snap shots and upload them.
I have kind of been a sore puppy this week, did a little shoulder damage Monday night, don't ask - LOL, but all should be better by next week. This Saturday is our annual OKC Alzheimer's walk, so other than that, I sure hope to have a bunch of bench time and possibly get this almost done - just for Frank!

Progress as promised...... Interior done - awaiting install Engine is in - being held in place while it sets. As you can see, I tried to doctor up the headers and tips with a little red and blue sharpie attacks, to simulate hot headers and tips - BUT, they look like something pretty on a Christmas tree. Sooooooooooo - I may have to darken these up a lot more, oh well, I tried, LOL Firewall is in, wipers painted, various touch ups in progress Rims and tires readied. I tried to make them a bit colorful to match the truck. Starting to look like a clown truck in some ways, BUT - too late now, LOL Also, I dug through the decal box and applied some arrow decals, 2 each to each inner rim, and also some wheel location decals, and a quick air reference circle on the rear of all rims Bumpers detailed, decaled, and clear coated Transmissions paired up, this one was warped pretty bad, hoping it dries straight
