Thank you very much!! Lindberg has 2 versions of this (one can be built custom I think) But of course I was sent the stock one. I just raised the front end & added some spare wheels/tires and fiddled around with the firewall using pieces of junkyard stuff. Nice easy kit that went together almost perfect! I like that....Thanks again!

Very nice. One suggestion, Bare Metal Foil for the chrome trim. Very easy to use and much more realistic than paint.

Thanks! I just got my first batch of BMF & am practicing as we speak - frustrating so far.....I got Ultra Brite when I hear I should've gone with regular chrome.

Thanks! I just got my first batch of BMF & am practicing as we speak - frustrating so far.....I got Ultra Brite when I hear I should've gone with regular chrome. Yep, I have tried the ultra bright, black chrome, etc. Pretty much have all the different colors, and what has worked the best is the good old fashioned, original, regular chrome. The others made me so mad, that I have painted the last couple builds, just because I can't stand the BMF stuff anymore. Its like the quality has went out the door. Thinking to try a trick I saw on here, using regular old aluminum foil and elmers white glue.

I got so fired up yesterday I had to walk away... I Googled BMF alternatives & found out alot of airplane guys are using regular foil (even candy bar wrappers) with Micro Mark decal adhesive. I have this stuff called Aleena's Clear Gel Tacky Glue I picked up at Walwart for about $3. Some guys put a small bead on then foil. If that doesn't help its back to the brush and Tamiya tape. I'm doing a BLACK '68 Charger and I swear working with this stuff is giving me head trauma...

Yes! Outstanding! Wish I could do that. I hear that man. Some people have great success with BMF, I am not one of those peoples...... Same here. The stuff is too delicate for my clumsy fingers. When I can manage to get it right, though, it looks great. I bought candy wrapper foil at Michaels and have also used kitchen foil...don't see a lot of difference. For glue I use Microscale's Micro Metal Foil Adhesive. You apply the adhesive and let it set before sticking the foil on...helps prevent getting glue where you don't want it.

I use masking tape whenever possible when painting trim. But rather than try and fit the tape to the curves, I over-tape and then trim the tape back. I use a new blade and a very light touch so as not to mar the paint. If I goof it's easier to re-tape than it is to re-paint. And if I do try to use BMF, I mask the same way...the tape acts as a guide when trimming the foil.

I got everything done but the wheel trim. Paint time - I give up...Is there any thread or post in here about doing wheel wells? Firstly, that is one super sweet build mate, everything looks great. Second, the secret to BMF is a brand new blade for every model, cut thin strips for what you need to do, and try get 1 line lined up with the edge first. Until you get the hang of it , try not to skimp too much, leave a bit of overhang to trim off, it is easier, and only use the weight of the blade to trim it, that way the blade will follow an edge, if you put pressure on it, you will stear the blade in all directions. And i think i have a handle on BMF, but still only EVER done wheel arches once, they are hard. But an old friend down this way, he cuts out a curved strip of BMF , so that you are not trying to bend it around corners. Stick with it mate, it will be worth the effort.

Thanks! I finished them off last night. I did as Sidney did - Cut a square big enough to cover the whole molding, burnished then trimmed. A bit of a waste of BMF but it's done. It's Ultra Brite Chrome so I don't care if I run out as it's junk. Buy regular chrome next time as may wise people have said......
