Next up on the chopping block... The first kit I put together was the Monogram '53 Corvette. The fit was pretty poor, so I decided to do another 'Vette of the same era from AMT/Revell. The first challenge on this one is the "mini fins" on the rear fenders. On the Monogram kit they were at least molded in. On this one they are seperate pieces and it will take some putty and sanding to smooth out the join. Body work is not my strong suit...hope I don't mess it up. Body color will be sapphire blue. Interior probably the suede show here...

Cool, I know what you mean about the monogram one, mine has one door longer than the other and lopsided lights at the front

I'm watching young fella !! I reckon you can do a great job on this little Vette, and the color choice should look good on it too.

The pre-build revealed some challenges. Instead of the usual one piece tub, this tub is in five pieces, plus the two sides of the engine compartment. The five tub pieces pretty much have to be assembled at the same time, as they depend on each other for alignment. Also the engine compartment pieces are best attached after the tub is fitted to the body, otherwise you have to pretty much guess where they go. Surprisingly, it all fits together fairly well. The glaring exception are the very visible gaps where the seats meet the outside body edges. Also the dash is in two pieces and there are gaps there too. I'm pretty sure I'll be using the hard top option on this one.

That interior looks brilliant mate, so well detailed.. praising-the-lord-smiley-emoticon
Engine bay looks great, but as you are thinking of heater hoses, why not, it will tip it over the top i reckon .. hand-clapping-smiley-emoticon
