I have three L700 Transporters started now, I cut the plastic on number three the other day. The first one is the one with the sleeper cab that I started three years ago the first week they were reissued This one will be the last sleeper cab L700 that I will build The second one I started about a month later & is the original length Ford LN 8000 frame it & number three with be identical except for the colors. They will be paired with matching trailers and 68 Hemi S/S Darts on one pair painted to match & 68 Hemi S/S Barracudas on the other pair for a team Here are the donor kits used Here's general idea only with the standard cab & will have a service platform/open storage area between the cab & bed so you can see the engine easier which will be resin 6BT Cummins engines

Three at once !!!!!! A real juggling act if I ever saw one. Very Cool !!! That's quite the project. I just obtained the Dodge L-700 kit myself and I'll be following this build for sure.

Three at once, incredible! I luv the idea. The results will be stunning additions to any collection. I assume the Dodge bodies are from the old IMC Dodge kits. I wonder how you fit and possibly alter the body to fit the frame and different engine? Thanx for quite some project! Given a choice, I'd pick the '63 bigger Ramchargers/color me gone cars, maybe one as one of the early supercharged machines that eventually led to funny cars.

It's not too bad build three of the same at the same time. The silver cabs are original IMC the rest are Lindbergh. The Darts are the same scale as the RamChargers cars

I've fitted these cabs to different AMT frames since the mid 70's. The cabs mount easy you can use all the original Dodge stuff & make it tilt too. Most of the time I use the ends of the Dodge frame rails so the stock bumper mounts up In these pics you will see that I have glued some stock on top of the frame rails for the cab to rest on, these will play a key part when I do the hinges & frame rail stubs. The rear of the cab will be supported by the original Dodge cab latch & rear support. The U shaped piece in the pic is that support that simply slides over the frame I think I'm going to shorten the frame & get rid of the gap, what do you all think? Here's another one that I may get it's final cab fitted while I'm doing these It's being built on a AMT ladder truck frame

I'm thinking of not shortening the frames but continue with the same idea & mount an air compressor, welding machine, torches, engine hoist & spare tire for the truck, the roof acting as a spoiler

Last night I cut some pieces out of the floor of a Bill Elliot Transport trailer to make the platform. While looking through it for straight panels for the walls & roof (I used a brand new kit)I realized that I had enough to extend the roof/observation deck. I figure that I can do side panels with windows so you can see the tool, tool boxes & Hemis that now will be displayed in all the open area that I have now created. As you will see in the pics I have opened the front & rear walls in the transporter bed

Three at once !!!!!! A real juggling act if I ever saw one. Very Cool !!! That's quite the project. I just obtained the Dodge L-700 kit myself and I'll be following this build for sure. I was sitting back looking at the transporters the other night & thought about the box truck that sometimes accompanied teams to the track with a backup car. So being there's a new C600 Ford box truck already in my batch of trucks it looks like another one will get started

Thanks Warmachine! I have both beds cut & platform addition fitted & glued in as well as having the beds glued to the frame on both too. Fuel tanks are built & mounts dug out to mount them

Direction changed again no more sleep area & bunks. Number 2 & 3 now have cabinets in that area I cut the doors opposite on each one so they could be parked alongside each other to pit

I find it actually very easy as I cut all the parts made for both at one time I'm doing the cars that will be on them in assembly line fashion
