This is my second go at one of these kits. I had started one a while back but abandoned it, partly due to hating the colors and partly due to BMF frustration. This time the colors are working really well. I'm basing the color scheme on this real Avanti... Donna's Avanti
So far I'm liking it. I went with a metallic black instead of plain black. Took some fiddling to get the right consistency on the paint, but it looks great. No clear coat or detailing yet. For the floor of the interior I'm going to try a carpet textured printed on fabric. Cutting the fabric to fit around the pedals will be an interesting challenge. smiley-scared002

Very unusual to see an Avanti in a dark color. It looks a lot different, almost in disguise! For carpeting, the flocking (which comes in colors) is an easier way to go and the look is quite good. The Avanti had an incredible appearance and like the '53 Stude, it makes a wicked racer in any class.

Too bad about Studebaker going under. They came up with some innovative and classy stuff. I tried using the flocking a couple of times and it didn't work out well, probably due to my lack of experience. I'll probably give it another try sometime. I like the idea of using the fabric because I can print anything I like on it...no limit to colors or patterns. I have an idea for how to fit it around the pedals. What could go wrong?

I installed a piece of the "carpeting" to see how difficult it is to glue and trim it. Not bad at all. I'm going to go ahead and do the rest of the floor. I'm pleased with the way it looks, too. smileyCASHS601_zps1c54a9c5 I was doing a Google search for Avanti emblems and found this... Avanti wrist watchHow cool is that! I'll probably bid on it. Don't anyone here bid against me! smiley-wagging-his-finger-saying-no-emoticon
