Next I hit the parts box and chose some good tires and wheels for the car. After that I painted all the stuff up to install it on the chassis.

Looking very cool !! Thanks Paul. Will post a picture later today. Nobody posted it but looking at this car for awhile it became obvious to me how hideous this car actually looked. Just not an even flow on this one. Liked the hard work being visible but not the back dragging appearance. So...off comes the altered 63 body, up comes the rear chassis a bit, on goes an unalaltered 64 body I rescued and this car becomes a 64 highboy gasser. I think this looks better IMHO.

Day two on the bench. Happy about the front way up to show off the work I did but unhappy the car sat so low in the back. The whole thing just looked wrong to me. Took awhile but I figured out what was wrong. Sat too low in the back, rear wheel openings too big and I fixed it. Took a donor 64 body I had, found a creative way to raise up the back and this is the result. Now its a highboy 64, sitting more like a gasser as I wanted and once I make the big hedders and build the engine and install it and add some bright paint, tinted windows, and custom decals I think it will be all of what I wanted it to be when I started.

Thanks guys. I like it better like this. Them ladder bars turned out better than I thought they would. A bit out of scale but gasser always have larger than life ladder bars on them since I figured what the heck, go for it. Got a nice 427 going in the car. I do want to change the body still. Would like a 63 convertible with the hard top on it for the body as this was my plan at first. The Prestige 63 Vette I had coming did not happen so I went with the fastback for the time. Have to make motor mounts then do a bit of cutting on them inner fenders and make them big fender well hedders. I was thinking of going banana yellow with red tinted windows with some custom decals? Lots more builds like this in the works. At least out of all of this I will never be in need of leafsprings again. I can make up a pair or set in an hour.

Looking good! Love the gasser look on almost any 50's and 60's cars! smileyCASHS601_zps1c54a9c5

Thanks Grandpajohnny, me too. Actually doing a 75 Mustang II fir kicks and giggles. Fabbing up the chassis just today. Got a Road Runner, a 57 Vette, and a complete gasser chassis with no body yet just about tooled up too. Doing lots of different fabrication work. Mounts, shacles, leafsprings, straight axles, motor and trans mounts, exhaust, hedders, shocks, tie rods, roll cages. Finding this fun to do. Beats out of the box building any day.
