Just bought my first can of Duplicolor paint. While I was at Auto Zone I noticed they had clear coat. How does this compare to Testers Wet Look? Can it be used over Testers Enamel and Laquer paints?

I used dupli-color clear a couple times, but only when using dupli-color paint and i liked the finish. It is a laquer so it can't go over enamel. Testors paints are funny and sometimes react when other brands are sprayed over them.

ONLY use duplicolor acrylic clear over automotive acrylics mate, a general rule is NEVER mix and match with enamels and acrylics. Acrlyic will NOT go over enamel, but enamel WILL go over acrylic, but, model paints can blow that theory out of the water, and you usually only find out the hard way... All my model based paints went in the bin after i found out the hard way..

Is the Duplicolor OK to spray over acrylics like Createx?

Is the Duplicolor OK to spray over acrylics like Createx? The one I posted works great over Createx paints. Don't use duplicolor's acrylic lacquer as it's still lacquer thinner based and will lift the paint. Both of these were painted with Createx paints and cleared with the duplicolor acrylic enamel clear coat I pictured above... 20150418_011513 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr IMG_20140614_112949 by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr This was painted with Krylon and Wal-Mart 99 cent flat black paint... I picked up my can at O'Reilly's. I have seen this stuff, think it may have been Autozone. But I may just have to get a can - if it works on everything like you say.

Almost always use Dupli-Color paint with Krylon Acrylic clears. Not had a bad reaction yet. have also used it over some Rustoleum metallic and cheap Walmart paints with no reaction. May be wise to try on plastic spoon to test

I like the way the Krylon clear works, but it has such an awful odor I can't stand to use it. Even if I spray outside and take the part inside to cure, it still stinks up the house. dramatic-death

Testors paints don't follow any painting laws I found, as I don't think they are thinners based, that is why I threw all mine in the bin when they started doing strange stuff like acrylic reacting with acrylic on me. I only use auto based acrylics now, this way I know something wont react for no real reason... I am glad you had a success and not a disaster mate, but be careful, one day it will bite you where it hurts..... on a special model..

I actually read it on another forum last year that Tester clear laquer isn't as strong as it use to be and you can spray over enamel.Luckily the hood had enamel so I sprayed that first for a test run.It worked so I figured No Guts No Glory! And it worked! egyptian

Hoping this works like you say.Found it at the local auto parts store and I'm liking the price.I normally pay $5.49 for a 3oz can of Testers and this stuff is $5.99 for a 12oz can. Can't wait to try it!
