Hi guys, Being new to the site I thought this might be a good way to get my feet wet here. It's cool to see all of the various contests and builds going on here, so when I came across the 3 year anniversary build I thought "Go for it". I have had this kit in my stash for many years now, so I think it is time to build it. I'll be keeping it OOB except the addition of some wiring, plumbing and a MCG photo etch kit. Thanks for looking!

Thanks for all the nice comments guys.
Tubbs, that is Tamiya TS-50 Mica Blue.
I do use a variety of paints from various manufacturers but I have to say Tamiya is my goto paint. I first clean the body well, then primer, then the paint in light coats until I am happy with the result.

I know I need all the help I can get as well tubbs. I've been ploughing away at this little project on and off for the last couple of days. Actually that makes it sound like I am not enjoying this but I really am. I love building, I just wish I had more time. I'm sure we are all in the same boat though. I did a quick mock-up to see how the car will sit. Invited some people over to celebrate the completion of this phase of the build. Jungle Jim, Pam and a few others showed up and listened to some guitar tunes. I had spent some time getting the wheels and tires cleaned up. I added some MCG photo-etch centers to the the wheels and darkened the spokes with gun metal paint. The tires with this kit had a lot of cleaning up to remove a huge center line right down the middle of the treads. I contemplated using tires from the parts box but I do like these as they still have the Good-Year logo. Thanks for having a look guys. Rob

I got a little time tonight to get a little more done on the Speedwagon. The engine has now been painted body color along with a chrome like paint for the transmission. Looking at the valve covers that came with the kit I was not overly impressed so I swapped them out with the valve covers from a 32 highboy kit. I like the Ford Motorsports look over the blank covers in the kit. The grill needed to be cut out to make room for the MCG grill. Now it is time to get it painted up and attached to the model. Although the interior is far from complete I did get the dash done including the MCG gauge panel and vents. Now for the steering wheel and a little more detailing and I can wrap the interior up. Thanks for looking. Rob
