Having not used this much on my builds I have started foiling my latest build, my question is can you clear coat successfully over the BMF or not. Islandrods

never cleared over it, just put it on and left it alone.

I never clear it,just apply it and buff it up with a soft cotton rag.

Some say ya can, helps keep it from lifting, later down the road, might try it on say a spoon, see if ya like it

I did a practice piece, applied some copper bmf to a corner, sprayed with clear, and it seemed to do just fine.

I've sprayed some of mine with clear. Don't see a big difference other than the fact it won't lift.

I tried clear coating a while back, but if you polish your model, it is so easy to rub through on parts like the drip rail,. which is usually where you have the BMF, when this happens, you will get a different finish where the foil is exposed compared to the parts that are clear coated. Each to their own, but it looks more realistic if put on last.
