Yeah - its been a wild day no doubt. Could be a wilder evening. Looks like the freezing rain is done..........
BUT - now if we get any winds, and dropping overnight temperatures, well - we will hear some more Snap - Crackle - and Pop!!! UGH....

Thanks JM, so far so good this morning.
Everything re-froze last night, and the big tree did lose a huge branch in our yard, but other than that, everything else stayed the same. Some of the trees are lower, but they should start to come back up, its supposed to stay above freezing today, with all rain, cold rain, but at least not freezing rain. What a weekend!!

I have not been on the last couple days. We got home Tuesday night after work, only to find out the power was out most of the day! we called it in right away, and was told it would be at least the next day before anybody could come out, (Neighbor kid that was home, I say kid - he must be 25, napped all day. Said he knew the power went off around Noon, but never called the power company - REALLY? SERIOUSLY?) So with no choice, we booked a room at the Sheraton, and I took Wednesday off from work. This was 3 houses down from ours - in their back yard. Same yard where the "kid" seen and heard it happen....... We came back Wednesday morning, only to sit here waiting - and waiting - and waiting, then we waited some more...... About 2 or so in the afternoon, we went for something to eat, when we got back, the tree cleaning crew was here, removing and clearing the tress from the area where the lines went down. Thinking and hoping, "maybe" the power company would be right behind these guys to get the power on, we waited, and waited, and waited, then about 6pm, after burning the stove for a little heat, (gas was still on - just no power), we decided to go to the Sheraton again, and I took today off work again as well. FINALLY, about 1030 this morning, the power company showed up with a crew, and around 2pm we finally had juice!!!! UNBELIEVABLE

Awe man. Sucks you had to go through that. Those utility folks are never ever in a rush.

I grew up in stuff like this Tom in Illinois. Only worse. Went to bed many times and the weather was nice. Woke up and the whole world was completely covered in a sheet of thick ice from an ice storm. I mean EVERYTHING. My kids used to say to me when I would be talking about my days as a "youte" "Yeau I'll bet you walked two miles in the snow to school too!" I did. Everyday in the winter for years. It can be very beautiful and also very dangerous. Be careful friend.
