Thought id share some pics of the platform i do for our Christmas tree. It was originally 8ft x 4 ft, but this year i expanded it to 10ft x 4ft. It has 2 lionell train sets: 1 Ho and 1 O gauge. The painted section is the original platform. Laying out the track to see how many extra pieces i will be needing Got all the track pieces i needed and got the extension painted Building a tunnel for the trains. First I build a frame from wood and then cover it with chicken wire. Next i cover it with expandable spray foam i got at home depot. The foam is now ready to be trimmed and then painted. I will post more pics as i go.

Nice! Great Stuff foam!!! Why didn't I think of that?! I was trying to figure out a back-drop for the wagon diorama I just did and I pictured it driving along side a mountain top. This would have been perfect. This is looking great, John.

Very, VERY cool!!! This will be awesome!
I miss not having a train under the tree. Have not had little kids for so long, just have not done it anymore. Shoot - don't even have a train! LOL I will have to celebrate vicariously through your train project JM - thanks for doing this - looks awesome!!!
The foam is a great idea too, that's gonna look like mountain rock for sure! Throw some tress on it, and you got the Eisenhower Tunnel - I-70, Colorado!!!

Thanks guys! I really enjoy doing this every year. It was originally my grandfathers who did it for years and he gave it to me 4 years ago.
